Licensed Therapist

Position Summary

Licensed therapist to provide intensive clinical therapeutic services to individuals with identified behavioral health diagnosis. Licensed therapist will assist with the specific mental health needs of the identified client as they relate to their diagnosis.

Services are provided with client-centered approaches and delivered through intensive, time-limited, goal specific interventions.

Work Functions and Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality of records relating to the client’s treatment

• Gather information about community resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy.

• Assess client’s mental conditions based on review of client information, interviews, and observations.

• Serve as a client advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency crisis situations.

• Develop and implement treatment plans based on diagnosis, clinical experience/knowledge, and clients presenting problem.

• Conduct initial assessment and refer clients to internal or community resources as necessary.

• Provide clinical documentation and assure that all filing of clinical information and submission of billing information is done accurately and with the time frame required.

• Maintain compliance with all federal and state regulations and standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from accredited university

• Experience providing diagnostic assessments and therapy services to a full range of individuals.

• Valid license in North Carolina; LCSW-C, LCSW, LMSW, and LCPC

• Valid malpractice insurance

• Available to work flexible work schedule.

• Superb organizational skills

• Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and their families.

• Must have a current and valid NC driver’s license in accordance with NC DMV driver’s license eligibility requirements.

Skills Required

• Skilled in diagnosing, crisis intervention techniques, and treatment of mental health and sustenance abuse disorders

• Skilled in treatment planning

• Skilled in assessing and identifying problem behaviors.

• Skilled operations of computer and use of appropriate computer software.

Knowledge Required

• Knowledge of human behavior and complex behavioral problems.

• Knowledge of wellness and recovery models

• Knowledge of mental illness, substance use and co-occurring disorders.

• Knowledge of consultation and education theory and techniques.

• Knowledge of DSM-5 criteria.

• Knowledge of applicable Federal, State and Local laws.

Abilities Required

• Ability to handle stress.

• Ability to stabilize crisis situations.

• Ability to follow complex oral and written communication.

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

• Ability to relate effectively to clients.

• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, volunteers, medical and clinical professionals within the community.

• Ability to initiate professional referrals.

• Ability to differentially diagnoses mental health, substance use, and medical disorders.
