The National Institutes of Health is seeking a Biologist, Molecular Toxicology.
This is a long-term, full-time, contract position based in Durham, NC. This position offers a competitive benefits package.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will support the generation, recording and analysis of data as well as broad management of the lab. This position will involve scientific experiments aiming to understand how environmental toxicity contributes to human diseases and identifying human health hazards from chemical and environmental exposures .
Perform tissue culture, cell culture and biochemistry experiments, including basic tissue culture techniques, isolation of proteins from tissues/cells, Western blotting and immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence.
Support cell culture maintenance including stem cells.
Collaborate with staff on cutting-edge cell biology and bioassay technologies for the development of disease-relevant assays for screening.
Conduct research experiments that will determine the effects of food, drugs, serums, hormones and other substances on tissues and processes of living organisms.
Perform routine laboratory maintenance; ensure research supplies are kept stocked
REQUIREMENTS:
MS in Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline is required
Experience in primary cell culture and immunohistochemistry is required
Experience conducting mechanistic toxicology studies is preferred
