Experienced Ophthalmic Scribe in Fort Lauderdale, FL!

Job Summary: We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Ophthalmic Scribe. In this role, you will work closely with ophthalmologists and other healthcare providers to accurately document patient encounters, procedures, and treatment plans in real-time. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain precise electronic medical records (EMR), ensuring thorough and timely documentation of all pertinent clinical information.

Responsibilities:

Accurately document patient medical histories, chief complaints, and relevant symptoms during ophthalmic consultations and examinations.

Record detailed information regarding ophthalmic procedures, including diagnostic tests, surgeries, and treatment regimens, as directed by the ophthalmologist.

Assist ophthalmologists with documentation of physical examinations, ocular measurements, and diagnostic findings, ensuring completeness and accuracy of data.

Enter orders for diagnostic tests, imaging studies, and medications into the EMR system, following established protocols and physician instructions.

Collaborate with ophthalmologists to generate comprehensive visit notes, procedure notes, and surgical reports, incorporating relevant clinical information and treatment plans.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and coding standards for medical record documentation, including ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.

Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.

Provide administrative support as needed, including scheduling patient appointments, answering phone calls, and assisting with patient inquiries.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, medical scribing, or related field preferred.

Previous experience as a medical scribe or in a similar healthcare documentation role highly desirable.

Familiarity with ophthalmic terminology, procedures, and clinical documentation preferred.

Proficiency in typing and data entry, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, providers, and other team members.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment, multitasking and prioritizing tasks effectively.

Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems and medical billing software preferred.

Commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.

Additional Details:

Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL (33308)

Pay: $20/hr-$25/hr (Dependent on background and Years of experience)

Hours: Monday - Friday; Normal Business Hours (Onsite 5 Days a Week)

Duration: ~6 month Contract to Hire (~1,040 hours) - contracted probationary period into direct hire/permanent position

Requirements: Previous Ophthalmology/Retina Experience
