Position Summary:

Asa key member of project teams, the Vice President, Portfolio Project Management is expected to be knowledgeable about all aspects of the project and the drug development life cycle to guide teams in strategic planning and execution. The Vice President, Portfolio Project Management will achieve this by delivering high quality project management support and other high value services to enable team success. The ideal candidate is an individual who is interested in working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly collaborative biotech environment with a willingness and ability to successfully take on new challenges. The VP, Portfolio Project Management will be a member of the Clinical Development Leadership Team and will report to the Chief of Staff, Clinical Development.

What you'll do:

Leadership in strategic company-wide portfolio management with experience from early drug development through to commercialization in biotech or pharma

Drive accelerated development of IDEAYA Biosciences pathways from early development through registration, leading cross-functional evaluation of different scenarios and risks/benefits to develop team recommendations

Manage governance process and drive preparation by teams, with attention to clear and succinct presentation of recommended and alternative plans, and thorough evaluation of opportunities and risks

Communicate with senior leadership to ensure alignment on strategies, budgets and project prioritization

Support alliance management of joint development programs with partners, establishing a strong collaboration and supporting interdepartmental meetings

Partner with Finance to support the management of all financial aspects of IDEAYA Bioscience's development programs including annual financial planning, (eg, 1-year and 3-year long-range plans)

Responsible for leading a team of full-time employees and contractors within the Portfolio Project Management function

Accountable for IDEAYA Biosciences clinical development program performance, risk management, financial management and issue resolution

This role is located in South San Francisco or San Diego offices and required to be in the office at least 4 days per week

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree with advanced degree (e.g. MBA, PhD, or MPH in life sciences) or PMP certificate preferred

Successful candidates will have a minimum of 10 years of relevant pharmaceutical/biotech experience

Experience in leading a team of program managers spanning Research and Clinical Development

Prior experience leading molecules through regulatory approvals a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrated ability in R&D, Clinical Development, Program Portfolio Management and/or Corporate Planning in the life sciences industry

Ability to work in a fast-paced, start-up collaborative work environment

Combines attention to detail with big-picture strategic perspective and enterprise mindset

Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, communicate ideas and data both verbally and written in a persuasive and appropriate manner

Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize effectively to deliver results within reasonably established timelines

Proven financial, budget and resource planning experience

Portfolio management experience in early drug development through to commercialization

Provides project management expertise and operational support across the clinical development portfolio in collaboration with their respective Development Leads

$310,000 - $330,000 a year

The salary range is an estimate and may vary based on the Company's compensation practices.
