Job Purpose and Summary
This position is responsible for receiving, inspecting, verifying, and recording all incoming inventory. This position is also responsible for shipping, verifying, and logging outgoing orders.
Duties and responsibilities
Responsible for shipping, verifying and logging of:
Customer orders
Verify customer order counts match packing and are labeled accurately.
Verify BOL against quantity and weight.
Load and validate shipment departure via internal system. Notify team of departure.
Customer pickup
Create shipping documents when necessary.
Ensure that all information matches prior to loading.
Customer samples
Pulling and shipping of customer samples as needed.
External coating orders
Pulling seed from inventory and preparing for shipping or delivery to 3rd party processing.
Lab samples
Shipping of samples as requested by team.
Machinery for repair
Inspecting, packing and preparing for shipment
Creating BOL/Shipping docs
Organizing and maintaining shipping records.
Responsible for receiving, verifying, and logging of:
Commercial seed
Verifying information, physical properties, cleanliness of lot.
Document and label lots according to internal log/system
Place and move in system to proper location.
Seed samples
Pulling samples per system and planner request on receiving.
Pull samples when assisting other departments.
Machinery
Inspecting any machinery for damage, record and report at unloading.
Receiving machinery via PO.
Warehouse supplies
Inspect, check and verify supplies received vs packing.
Report and contact vendor for shortages.
Chemicals
Inspect and receive chemicals and deliver to correct departments leads.
Returns from customer.
Inspect and log all returns.
Report return and receive when documents provided.
Organizing and maintaining shipping records.
Operates forklift truck as needed.
Documents all related activities and completes forms and reports.
Effectively communicates errors and changes to necessary team members.
Complies with health and safety standards, programs and industry codes in accordance with federal, county and state agencies (CCR Title 8, EPA, RCRA, CERCLA, NFPA, and FDA) and regulations. Follow control measures for exposure to hazardous materials or conditions.
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Position Dimensions and Qualifications
Internal Contacts: Plant Manager, warehouse personnel, Customer Service, Demand & Inventory Coordinator.
External Contacts: Vendors
Educational Level and Focus: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience working in a warehouse setting and forklift experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Interpersonal: Providing information to department managers, supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them at all times. Efficient with managing one’s own time and be proactive when challenged by busy or difficult situations.
Communication: The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand and to speak clearly so others can understand you. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
Technical and Analytical: Ability to convert weights and use basic math. General knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Must have attention to detail and be well organized.
Administrative and Operations: Ability to work in stressful environment and meet deadlines.
Physical Demands: Must be able to work at least 40 hours per week with occasional overtime. Must be able to work in the warehouse, be physically fit to walk, bend, kneel, squat, bend your back and lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment: Cold, hot and humid conditions, wet floors, high noise levels, forklift and pedestrian traffic.
Special Equipment Used:
- Experience with 5k, 3k, 3k walk behind forklifts.
