Job Description

Nurse Practitioner to join our team who will provide holistic and quality care to our patients. A Nurse Practitioner’s responsibilities include helping with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations. Nurse Practitioners to provide medical services to Primary Care patients facility-wide, as directed by the Clinical Director. Assumes the responsibility and accountability for the continuity of health care regardless of the presence or absence of disease. Performs physical examinations, employing a combination of nursing and medical functions approved by standardized procedures. Diagnoses, treats, and prescribes medications under the supervision of the Clinical Director and in according to Nurse Practitioner Scope of Practice. Orders lab and diagnostic work in conformance with the Clinical Director’s written protocol for the treatment of specific illnesses or diseases. Performs minor lacerations, as ordered, and supervised by the Clinical Director and his/her protocol. Provides patients and their families with education, comfort, and relative information in accordance with their medical care as needed. Review laboratory values and diagnostic tests in a manner appropriate to the standard of care. In case of a patient with an emergency, administer all appropriate care and ensure appropriate transfer of care to appropriate level of care via emergency medical system. Discharge patients from the clinic with appropriate instructions and follow up care. Part-time and full-time considered. Assess, diagnose and treat patients. Duties include obtaining patient's health history, performing physical exams, prescribing laboratory tests and medication, providing patient and family education and providing technical expertise to other nurses. Incumbents in this class work independently under the general direction of a physician pursuant to state statute. As an Infectious Disease Provider, you will be responsible for the clinical assessment and diagnosis of infectious diseases, infectious diseases treatment, and infectious diseases clinical management. You will work under the direction of a physician with a special interest in infectious diseases. You will provide quality patient care and excellent patient care. RESPONSIBILITIES

Prescribe medication, examine patients, diagnose illnesses, and provide treatment.

Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests.

Gather health histories, perform physical examinations and diagnostic procedures.

Develop and implement treatment plans.

Dictate and document all patient interactions.

Notify managing physician about unusual or unexpected events or problems.

Effectively communicate with diverse populations, including physicians,

employees, patients, and families.

Meaningful work environment supported by specially trained HIV medical services.

Support staff and a HIV/medical Case Management support services program; with HIV.

Medication Adherence Specialist/Dietician/Nutrition management, Substance

Abuse/Psychiatric medical and Counseling Services

Lead a team driven approach that delivers the highest quality HIV medical

management and related medical care services.

Provide comprehensive medical management of HIV patient, including HIV

specific health related quality of life, primary care, and preventative medical management.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

Must hold current license/registration to practice.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must have the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.

Ability to maintain highly confidential information.

Infectious Diseases experience is preferred but not required.

2-3 years of experience is preferred but a new graduate will be considered.

Graduation from an accredited NP Program.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Completion of a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. Possession and maintenance of a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada Board of Registered Nursing. Possession and maintenance of a valid Nurse Practitioner Certificate issued by the Nevada Board of Registered Nursing. Possession certification from the American Academy for HIV Specialty. Possession and maintenance of a valid Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Certificate issued by the Nevada Board of Registered Nursing (Furnishing Certificate enables a Nurse Practitioner to administer and/or order medications). Possession and maintenance of a valid Controlled Substance Registration Certificate – Schedules II – V issued by Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) (Controlled Substance Registration Certification [DEA #]) enables a Nurse Practitioner the ability to order level II – V controlled substance medications).

QUALIFICATIONS

NP furnishing privileges

DEA License

Current BLS and ACLS certification preferred

Licensed, or eligible, for Nevada as a NP.

Master’s degree or Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited institution

License to practice in the State of Nevada and hold current certification as an

APRN by ANCC or Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing

License with the American Academy for HIV Specialty

Ability to pass background check and driver’s license check upon offer of

employment.

PREFERRED SKILLS

Extensive training or experience in community based psychiatric treatment of individuals diagnosed with serious emotional disturbance and severe and persistent mental illness

Comprehensive and current knowledge of psychotropic medications and an understanding of crisis intervention and the use of hospital alternative services

Provider would be either an employee or independent contractor. Hours can be flexible.

Provider would manage patients referred from primary care providers at the clinic. New

patients are 1 hour, and follow-up patients are 30-40 minutes. A behavioral health nurse

navigator assists with scheduling and troubleshooting. Expectation is to provide

diagnoses and treatment, including medication prescriptions.
