Summary

A Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Programmer and Operator will program, set up, and operate a CNC machine for various assignments.

Location: Jackson, WI

Shift: M – TH; 6:00am – 6:30pm & F 6:00 AM-4:30PM; Currently mandatory 58 hour weeks. Saturday hours available in leu of 12 hour shifts. Mandatory over time is not permanent schedule but is effective until further notice. Standard schedule is a 40 hour work week.

Employment Type: Direct hire; non-exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform the daily CNC machine operation to route various materials.

Set-up the CNC equipment in 3 axis; occasionally 5 axis.

Import drawings files and tool path, and program the CNC using Mastercam, PowerMill, and OMAX software.

Read and interpret blueprints.

Initiate action to prevent non-conformance, including equipment shutdown, when necessary.

Create and change setup sheets as needed.

Clean and maintain assigned area.

Complete paperwork accurately and timely.

Program and enter instructions, including zero and reference points; set tool registers, offsets, compensation and calculating requirements, including basic math and geometry.

Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhere to design standards.

Maintain specifications by observing and taking measurements; detect malfunctions; troubleshoot processes; adjust and reprogram controls; sharpen and replace worn tools; adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes.

Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, troubleshooting malfunctions, calibrating and calling for repairs.

Adhere to safety requirements and equipment guidelines.

Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Perform other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill

High school diploma or G.E.D.; and two years or more relevant experience.

Knowledge of computers and CAD software.

Good oral and written communication skills in order to interact with employees.

Able to read and understand blueprints, specifications and routings.

Mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform geometric algebraic and trigonometric calculations.

OSHA/safety training preferred.

Work Environment

Exposed to typical noises and smells associated with the production environment, such as exposure to fumes or airborne particles and production machinery. Noise level is moderate to loud.
