Senior Nutanix Engineer

Role Overview for Senior Nutanix Engineer:

We are looking for the right person to join the global system engineering organization as a senior Nutanix virtualization engineer to define cutting edge global virtualization solutions in a Hybrid Multi Cloud Environment. Responsibilities will include building and managing scalable, resilient, and highly available automation and orchestration mechanisms and tooling for the new platforms as well as working to continually enhance existing virtualization estate.

This position requires a mixture of engineering, operations, hands on technical and support skills. Qualified candidates should have excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. In addition, it requires an open mind attitude to venture outside of their comfort zone when necessary. The individual will work closely with local and global technical leads, infrastructure and operations teams and other cross-department teams to evaluate business needs and provide end-to-end technical solutions and manage, operate, monitor, audit, secure the server Virtualization assets.

Job Description and Key Responsibilities:

Administration and support of existing Nutanix environment on HPE nodes

Installation and configuration of Nutanix core products

On a regular basis, evaluate existing Nutanix environment and make recommendations for process and platform improvement.

Develop, test, and deploy automated processes to streamline workflow management dashboards.

Assist/Support Platform Engineering team with VDI/VM support (deployment and troubleshooting) to include replication and DR.

Respond and remediate any alerted issues at any level of the Nutanix infrastructure (PE, PC, NC2) engaging Nutanix support as needed.

Create, publish, and maintain all documentation necessary for other team personnel to perform necessary Nutanix specific tasks within the virtualization environment.

Collaborate with Nutanix support for advanced troubleshooting when necessary.

Guide and train larger team on Nutanix Administration and automation as needed.

Provide Capacity, Performance, functional and historical reports to Management.

· Maintain and update environmental documentation, standard Operating Procedures, engineering documentation, Runbooks in support of operational hand off.

· Working closely with global operational counterparts to ensure stable and healthy virtualization platforms.

Mandatory Skills and Experience Required:

Sound experience of 10+ years in system administration and virtualization technologies

Nutanix professional level certification - NCP (MCI, CI, and/or EUC)

Demonstrated advanced understanding of Nutanix AOS/AHV hyperconverged platforms to include command line utilities such as ncli, acli, nuclei etc.

Advanced ability with scripting languages such as PowerShell, BASH, and Python

Understanding of API’s and ability to leverage them automation tasks.

Team-centric approach, excellent communication, and documentation skills

Understanding of storage technologies and data protection technologies like replication, snapshots, backup, restore, etc.

Ability to conform to a strict change control process and non-business hours change windows.

Support multiple datacenters in multiple time zones.

Must have excellent understanding of Networking Stack.

Must have excellent understanding of Nutanix Prism Element, Prism Central, Nutanix Move, Nutanix LEAP/Replication, NC2, NCI, and internal Nutanix Services.

Must have excellent understanding of Data Protection technologies and concepts and DR technologies and concepts.

Must have good understanding of security requirements and best practices around Nutanix deployments.
