About the team

Are you an SRE with excellent Observability, Containerization and Orchestration skills? As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) in the Smarsh SaaS Operations team, you'll be part of a team who measures and improves production performance reliability through sustainable engineering practices for our suite of applications. Toil will be your number one enemy, observability your closest friend and your mission will be to drive operational burden as close to zero as you can.

Responsibilities

Attend and actively participate in team ceremonies (stand-ups, retros, and planning meetings).

Respond to incidents coordinated by SRE and Incident Response teams. Participate in Incident Commander training

Document decisions regarding technology choices, best practices and process.

Build and maintain enterprise automation frameworks and improve upon existing automation frameworks where necessary. Assist peer teams in implementation of those frameworks.

Actively work with engineering teams to improve code deployment frequency.

Design and maintain functional testing for internal CI/CD pipelines and processes.

Contribute to architectural conversations and plans. Help determine designs and roadmaps for at least one platform area/component.

Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for at least three platform areas/components.

Participate in escalation and off-hours on-call schedule.

Adopt and embrace qualities of an SRE as defined in the team charter.

Mentor and train junior members of the team.

Desired skills & experience

A minimum 2-6 years industry experience

Strong understanding of at least one programming/scripting language.

Experience working with internally developed applications.

Strong experience managing continuous integration systems.

Strong experience with automated configuration management and deployment tools.

Background working in a multi-platform environment (Linux, Windows.).

Strong experience with centralized logging system.

Experience working with at least one monitoring system in a code driven focus.

Experience with Databases and message queueing systems in a highly available environment.

Experience working with at least one or more private/public cloud environment.

Solid writing skills to create and maintain runbooks and code documentation.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with people inside and outside the team.
