What you will be doing:

manage, lead, and empower a high-performing team of researchers as they conduct UX and human behavioral research (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method) in support of JLR’s digital products and experiences

drive team hiring, mentorship, and performance evaluations, as well as support the team with their growth plans and career goals

work with the Portland management team as we promote an inclusive culture and support our site’s growth and objectives

foster a team-oriented culture by inspiring, mentoring, and challenging colleagues to create high quality, innovative products

champion new and emerging user experience research methodologies, practices, and strategies to advance UX maturity at both local and global scale

build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across JLR and its global offices to ensure all work meets requirements and is ready to integrate into JLR’s digital products and experiences

work collaboratively with other technical leaders in User Experience Design, Customer Experience, Customer Insights, Experience Design, DesignOps, Research, and Product to advance best practices and promote cross-disciplinary outcomes

maintain proficiency and skill as a technical leader and practitioner of UX Research

build relationships with industry leaders, research organizations, and communities as a representative of JLR UX Research

Other duties as assigned

What you will have:

a master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Industrial Design, Industrial Engineering, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, related field, or equivalent practical experience

8+ years of relevant work experience within User Experience Research, Behavioral Research, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field

2+ years managing User Experience Research teams

experience in leading the delivery of complex, multi-faceted UX Research

experience working with internal design, engineering, product, and research teams

demonstrated success in leading UX Research and contributing to product development from concept to successful launch and implementation in large-scale engineering product environment

strong understanding of human-centered design principles and modern design standards

excellent collaboration, observational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills alongside the desire and ability to see things from multiple perspectives

detailed working knowledge of Agile and/or Scrum methodologies

You must be resourceful, conscientious, and self-motivated

You must be capable of building and maintaining strong relationships while advocating for meaningful improvements to our customer experiences
