We currently have an opportunity for a Risk Control Field Consultant to join our Risk Control team in our New York City, NY or Farmington, CT office. Under general supervision, performs technical evaluations and loss analyses to support complex accounts and makes prompt recommendations, as appropriate. Through consultative survey and/or technical services, contributes to the achievement of corporate and regional underwriting goals.

Responsibilities:

Possess a basic understanding of construction terminology to analyze construction drawings for both new construction and facility renovations focusing on structural details. Based on the analysis, provide a written communication back to underwriting explaining the scope of the work to be completed giving insight to the potential loss exposures of the project. Evaluate the project site requirements for both fire and intrusion protection and provide recommendations for both when necessary.

Ability to evaluate a facilities automatic sprinkler protection to determine the systems adequacy as it relates to various types of storage arrangements and commodity classes using NFPA 13.

Conducts risk analysis on complex insured’s operations, including risk evaluation, loss analyses and coordination of risk control programs. Effectively identifies and analyzes exposures to loss. Quantifies loss frequency and severity potential based upon hazards present, values at risk and basic understanding of terms/conditions of insurance contracts.

Documents assessment of risk accurately describing account operations and exposures, including risk recommendations for control or elimination of identified loss sources. Provides information to the underwriting department for further risk evaluation and assessment.

Provides account service by delivering consultative and technical services within policy parameters. Responds to basic technical inquiries from agents, management and underwriting staff.

Understands Risk Control, Underwriting and Claims functions, company positioning within the industry and general industry practices.

Responsible for assigned workload and balances priorities including production and quality demands. Understands how individual, departmental, and corporate goals relate. Effectively uses RCIS, underwriting systems and company portal.

Enhances loss control/industry knowledge through participation in educational programs. Requirements:

Must have analytical, decision making, problem-solving, organization, and teamwork skills. Must have the ability to communicate effectively in written, verbal and formal presentation formats. Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite. Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent education/experience required.

3 – 5 years’ of Risk Control experience preferred.

Must have or be working toward Professional Certifications such as CFPS, CSP or PE, with CPE.

Salary Range for New York City, NY: $102,000 - $119,000 (plus bonus potential)
