Job Description:

The primary responsibility of the Adjunct Faculty member is teaching. We are seeking adjunct instructors for the following course at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI):

MATH 5020 Clinical Biostatistics (Fall, 3 credits)

Course Description

This course provides a basic primer in statistical methods commonly used in the design and analysis of clinical research, including clinical trials. Topics covered include probability and distribution functions, sampling, hypothesis testing (e.g. t-test and ANOVA), multi-sample inference, correlation and regression, data reporting and descriptive statistics, and how to interpret common representations of clinical data (e.g. Kaplan-Meier Curves and Forest Plots).

The successful candidate must share in the mission of KGI and the Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences Programs. The Adjunct Faculty member reports directly to the Associate Dean of Faculty and works collaboratively with the Program Directors and other faculty.

Education and Experience:

Minimum of a Master’s degree in a related field. A doctoral degree is strongly preferred. Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience. Prior experience in teaching for active learning is preferred. Experience with the Canvas learning management system is a plus.

Special Requirements

Physical and Mental Requirements

Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal parameters. Ability to bend and stoop, for example, to file. Ability to move about. Ability to lift and carry short distances up to 20 lbs., for example to lift or move office supplies, files, books and packages.

Ability to drive locally. Occasionally, will be required to stand for prolonged periods of time at activities/events on and off-campus.
