As the Vice President of our Professional Liability unit, you're at the heart of the Claim’s business operations. You will use your knowledge base to balance the needs of Coaction’s customers and business. You are an expert in your field with the ability to provide guidance to your unit in line with Coaction’s claim and overall business strategy. In addition to being organized and analytical, you possess the strong business judgment and have the communication skills needed to interact with a variety of people in different situations. Responsibilities

Hire quality staff as outlined in staffing plans and agreed upon with the Chief Claims Officer. Construct goals and objectives for each employee that are consistent with the corporate plan.

Setting objectives for all employees and managing their performance throughout the year.

Working closely with their underwriting counterparts and participating as a key member of the professional liability leadership team to assist in the development of claims strategy and goals, assess and develop new program opportunities providing constant feedback and analysis on claim activity for active programs.

Meeting with and staying in close contact with brokers and insureds as business dictates to make sure we are delivering quality claim service, and tailoring our approach to claims handling to meet the needs of all customers.

Reviewing new losses, evaluating coverage, assigning to appropriate staff, monitor ongoing handling for prompt quality investigation, timely and accurate reserving and claim resolution.

Working with the Chief Claims Officer on special projects as assigned.

Develop and implement claims handling protocols that will ensure exceptional service and high quality claim results.

Develop expertise in coverage forms for assigned lines of business and programs.

Support underwriting on their business strategies, plans, forms, and service.

All procedures with claim handling practices comply with all applicable regulatory and fair claim act statutes.

Monitor & control expenses; balance staff caseloads.

Qualifications

15 years of experience in Professional Liability Claims

7-10 years of management experience

Strong litigation management skills required

JD strongly preferred
