Job Summary: Responsible for performing eye-related clinical tasks that provide information for the doctors to accurately evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients.
Working Hours: Full time. Working hours vary from 7:30 – 5 pm Monday – Friday and periodically from 8:00 – 12:00 on Saturdays.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
One or more years experience in a medical practice
Ability to work at any office as assigned
Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
Certified as an Ophthalmic Assistant preferred

Primary Responsibilities:
Skilled at utilizing all assigned clinical equipment
Uses EMR to interview and intake an accurate summary of the chief complaint, history of present illness, past history (ocular and general), family history (ocular and general), and history of allergies and medications.
Performs preliminary evaluations that include visual acuity, evaluation of motility, pupil assessment, angle assessment, confrontational visual field, applanation tonometry, manual refraction, dilation of pupils
Performs manual lensometry to determine prescription in existing glasses
Performs stereo testing and color plates for all new patients
Performs contact lens evaluation with keratometry
Performs special testing using the visual fields machine, OCT machine, external and internal camera, topographer, biometer,and pachymeter
Accurately enters all necessary data into the EMR
Maintains sanitary conditions in exam rooms
Participates in opening and closing duties as assigned
Participates in semi-annual competency checks
