Overview

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Coordinates daily routines and activities for the assigned site, coordinates individual and general treatment programs.

Provides supervision, coaching, modeling, engagement, and support of students in living, activity, school and community settings. Instructs, organizes, and assists students with carrying out daily living activities, recreational activities, developing self-care skills (health/hygiene), learning and practicing social and peer interaction, community interaction and coping skills, budgeting for small personal expenditures, and school work and/or homework.

Conducts team meetings, facilitates treatment discussion, assures team meeting minutes are completed thoroughly, distributed and posted on SharePoint.

Provides coaching, training, feedback regarding performance, conduct, and attendance. Conducts bi-weekly meetings with employees directly supervised to discuss student progress and concerns, and team related topics.

Meets regularly with designated Program Coordinator to discuss topics related to students, employees, team and agency.

Participates in medication reviews, providing behavioral observation to assist with assessment of current medications.

Creates, maintains, and posts staff schedules to ensure appropriate levels of student supervision in accordance with agency guidelines. Complies with on-call procedures related to staff attendance providing coverage as needed.

In partnership with Program Coordinator, performs human resource management and payroll processing functions for direct reports including interviewing and selection; orientation, training and performance monitoring and evaluations; coaching, counseling and corrective action and resolution of employee concerns. Monitors overtime. Maintains clear, objective documentation. Supports staff in their professional development.

Completes identified portion of the Individual Treatment Plan (ITP). Supports and implements agency and individual treatment approaches for students as identified in the Individual Treatment Plans (ITP), Individual Education Plans (IEP) and as established by the treatment team. Attends or identifies someone to attend treatment plan reviews, providing information on activities of daily living.

During school, functions as an active participant as a teacher’s aide, assists students as necessary to meet classroom expectations, activity schedule, and behavior management program. Communicates with teacher, substitute teacher, and therapist about student progress, effective approaches, and concerns whenever necessary.

Informs appropriate staff of students’ activities, behaviors and medical concerns. Completes and utilizes all agency forms as outlined in agency policy and procedure, i.e. incident reports, communication log, bed checks, data sheets, staffing reports, activity requests, activity logs, and other miscellaneous reports.

Coordinates with team members to plan and implement on- and off-ground activity schedules and events for students. Organizes, time, space and people to promote the activity schedule. May provide transportation as requested to and from appointments and visits.

Monitors purchasing of supplies, equipment and services for students and program area. Responsible for submitting Expense Reports and receipts for assigned company credit card, and updating the budget ledger.

May be responsible for completing medication administration and/or assisting students with meal planning and preparation, laundry, and daily housekeeping. May use agency credit card or cash systems to purchase supplies for the program or students.

Maintains awareness of assigned students and is responsible for their health, safety, and welfare. Observes and reinforces all safety rules and regulations, including the use of safety and assistive equipment.

Contributes to the cleanliness and overall appearance of the site, grounds, and vehicles. Communicates any damage or needed repairs as outlined in agency policy and procedure.

Follows all agency policy and procedure as it pertains to reporting any suspected student abuse.

Conducts self in positive, respectful and collaborative manner demonstrating proactive actions and decision making to ensure supportive work relationships and a healthy and safe environment for the students. Maintains self-control during crisis intervention. Uses appropriate, effective approaches with students. Properly and safely implements agency approved physical intervention techniques.

Maintains abreast of current trends, attends conferences, workshops and other training as needed.

Demonstrates knowledge of and complies with all information in the Company Handbook; ORP Beliefs and Behaviors, Company policies/procedures including maintaining participant confidentiality; emergency/disaster procedures, fire/tornado safety, and vehicle operations manual.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in a social or behavioral science field preferred.

One (1) year experience in residential services, or a minimum of three (3) years of experience working with children with developmental disabilities and one (1) year supervisory experience required.

Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in therapeutic setting(s) supporting individuals with a dual diagnosis of developmental disabilities and psychiatric disorder(s) required.
