As a part of our client's global field service team the field service engineer provides field and factory support to our customers and channel partners. In this role the field service engineer will be responsible to technically troubleshoot small to mid-size pump or compressors through analytical calculations, perform warranty evaluations through root cause failure analysis, and perform pre-commission and commissioning activities. While field service engineer is on site performing on-site activities, they are to provide technical expertise and supervision over rebuilding, installing, pre-commissioning, commissioning and/or troubleshooting of new and existing equipment. This position will require knowledge of controls engineering and mechanical engineering principles.

Job Responsibilities

Travel to customer sites and manage activities related to the installation, pre-commission, and commissioning of our client's equipment.

Manage the completion of on-site activities on site by overseeing customers craftsmen to properly complete activities per OEM specifications.

Ensure all completion of customer and OEM documentation for on-site activities with thorough reports.

Communicate, collaborate effectively, and be professional with all levels of the job site and internal personnel.

Expertise on failure modes on rotating equipment

Perform engineering analysis of operation of units in the field in relation to machinery reliability.

Acquire technical knowledge of all products to include assembly and disassembly procedures and the commissioning of equipment with emphasis on controls and instrumentation.

Perform failure analysis of malfunctioning equipment through root cause failure analysis.

Ensure customer satisfaction is achieved and maintained by delivering exceptional customer service to customers and channel partners.

Create and manage cases in Microsoft CRM software to respond to service/customer service requests from customers and channel partners.

Perform job functions following all safety regulations and processes and take all required job safety training courses.

Perform warranty evaluations on returned hardware ensuring that failure modes are or are not warrantable.

Train outside customer and channel partners in quarterly factory training courses.

Timely and accurate submittal of all required paperwork to include onsite time sheets and travel and expense report

Job Requirements

Bachelors in mechanical or related engineering degree with 5 years field experience

Ability to read blueprints and P&IDs (Piping and instrumentation diagrams).

Understanding of GD&T (Geometric dimensions and tolerances) principles in relation to machine design.

Previous experience with international customers.

Previous experience with field operations.

Excellent people skills with the ability to communicate and act professionally.

Self-directed with the ability to work independently and have a high level of self confidence.

Must have a sense of urgency and be very detail-oriented.

Have a passion to learn new skills and enjoy problem solving.

Completion of specific continuous improvement projects assigned during the year.

Previous rotating equipment experience or mechanical aptitude.

MS Suite experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CRM

Will be capable of working both independently as well as in a team environment

Will have strong attention to detail, and a high degree of focus on customer satisfaction

Flexibility to work multiple projects at varying stages of completion and multitask

Preferred Skills/Experiences

Familiar with American Petroleum Institute (API) standards.

Preferred CAD software experience

Working knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures used in the oil and gas, chemical or related industry.

Centrifugal pump, centrifugal compressor, or diaphragm compressor experience.

Previous experience with PLCs is preferred.
