As a Warehouse Automation Lead, you will be a crucial member of the Supply Chain Development & Analytics department, driving its growth and delivery. This role demands a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of warehouse operations, and experience managing complex automation projects. Adaptability, problem-solving abilities, and a focus on continuous improvement are essential for success in this role. You must also ensure that the supply chain aligns with FPG's overall business objectives and meets customer demand.

The Challenges

Strategy Development: Create a comprehensive strategy for warehouse automation, aligned with supply chain goals, considering the unique requirements of ambient and cold storage facilities.

Technology Selection: Identify, evaluate, and choose automation technologies (e.g., robotics, multi-shuttle, AGV, sortation) that optimize operations and fit within the budget.

Implementation: Lead and oversee the implementation of automation solutions across multiple warehouses, ensuring seamless integration, minimal disruption, and adherence to timelines and budgets. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with departments (Operations, Tech, Finance, Industrial Engineering, Indirect Procurement) to gather requirements, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.

Performance Measurement: Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the performance of automated systems, monitor operations, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.

Training: Develop training programs for warehouse staff to adapt to new automation systems and processes, facilitating a smooth transition and maximizing automation benefits.

Innovation: Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in warehouse automation, fostering a culture of innovation and exploring opportunities for further enhancements.

What It Takes

At least 5 years of experience working with warehouse automation technologies, including robotics, automated storage systems, conveyor systems, WMS, and IoT devices. Hands-on experience in implementing, maintaining, or optimizing automation systems is particularly beneficial.

Understanding of warehouse automation technologies and material handling equipment.

Familiarity with a wide range of warehouse automation technologies and their applications, along with emerging trends and innovations in the field.

Strong analytical mindset to assess performance metrics, troubleshoot issues, and make data-driven recommendations for improvements.

Strategic mindset to align warehouse automation initiatives with long-term business objectives, anticipating future needs and trends.

Understanding of budgeting, cost analysis, and ROI calculations related to automation investments, with the ability to optimize resource allocation for maximum ROI.

Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, safety protocols, and compliance standards.

Understanding of vendor selection processes, contract negotiations, and vendor relationship management.

Familiarity with change management principles and training methodologies to facilitate the adoption of new automation technologies.
