World Relief seeks a highly talented Economic Empowerment Specialist to provide services to refugees and immigrants by helping them access government and community resources, preparing them for success with early employment, and economic self-sufficiency.

This position works closely with other program staff to provide comprehensive s and client-centered services in partnership with members of the local community and area churches that encourage self-sufficiency among those served.

This position will be responsible for case management and reporting, early employment development and assistance, budgeting and basic financial literacy, and other related requirements.

Role & Responsibilities

Case Management Responsibilities:

Provide direct client care and goal-oriented case management to ORR-eligible refugees and other immigrants.

Ensure services, which support and strengthen clients’ motivation and capacity to become self-sufficient, are provided in a planned, effective and timely manner to eligible clients, according to program goals and in collaboration with other WRM programs and service lines.

Conduct evaluations to identify and address barriers to successful employment, resettlement and integration during the service period.

Refer clients to relevant WRM programs, ESL classes/resources, and other community agencies/resources as specific needs arise during the service period.

Provide Job Readiness Orientations on various topics relevant to employment, including:

Orientation to culture and expectations of work in the U.S.

Counseling clients about the benefits of early employment

Assistance with the process of applying for employment

Orientation to budgeting and other financial literacy skills

Assistance in navigating transportation solutions for employment

Monitoring clients’ ELT attendance to increase employability

Following up with clients after job placement to address areas of concern and ensure continued employment

Maintain at least monthly communication with clients through phone calls, emails and office visits.

Programmatic Responsibilities:

Collaborate with team members to develop and maintain systems, policies, and procedures for the Economic Empowerment department that comply with the systems and policies of WRM and grantors.

Participate in the design and execution of programs or courses geared towards client development for increased employability and skills.

Engage with volunteers, church groups, and service providers as it pertains to your work as an Economic Empowerment Specialist.

Complete reports, service plans, monthly reports, network calls and other tasks related to programs connected to TOR and ORR.

Maintain and complete detailed and accurate records of client files, case notes, and reporting records and submit monthly program reports.

Participate in staff meetings, ongoing training, and other staff development opportunities.

Actively work towards the mission of World Relief to “empower the local church to serve the most vulnerable.”

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Demonstrated understanding of case management processes; extremely detail-orientated; excellent time management skills Proficiency in Kinyarwanda highly preferred

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Previous professional experience in social services sector strongly preferred

Previous case management experience preferred

Previous database experience preferred (i.e. Salesforce and Dynamics)

Skill and sensitivity working with people from various backgrounds and beliefs

Ability to work with minimum supervision and resolve problems/issues promptly and effectively

Ability to work well on a team in a synergistic work environment, a flexible and motivated team player

Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize in a fast paced and fluid environment

Undergraduate degree strongly preferred

Requirements

Valid driver’s license and reliable access to an insured vehicle required

Ability to pass a background check and MVR check

Experience in computer skills (Email, Word, Excel, Microsoft 365, Teams, and Zoom)

Up to 25% domestic travel only required
