Position Description:

This position is responsible for architecting solutions to satisfy business leads and subsequently the development of estimates and proposals of materials and services for the Process Systems and Solutions (PSS) and Reliability Services (RS) business division at Cornerstone. The solutions architect group provides proposals for automation controls equipment, automation engineering services, lifecycle (field) services, and system reliability solutions. This position functions within the Engineering department and reports to a group manager.

Responsibilities:

Review proposal requests for optimum solution.

Generate estimates and proposals for materials and services offerings as described above. Critical success factors include providing an engineered solution that meets the customer’s expectations, rigorous attention to detail, and providing error-free work product.

Manage own work-in-progress and prioritize multiple proposal deliveries to comply with targeted dates.

Maintain communications with internal and external stakeholders to support proposal deliveries. Internal stakeholders include outside sales account managers, project managers, engineers, and management. External stakeholders include customer engineers, procurement, and management.

Ascertain information required to develop proposals and drive getting that information to ground.

Serve as one of Cornerstone’s faces to the customer. Build strong working relationships with individual customers by being accountable, and over time, understanding their business, situations, and needs.

Serve as the customer’s advocate where appropriate.

Consistently follow established Cornerstone proposal and estimate methodology.

Ensure that best practices are consistently incorporated in daily activities.

Ensure proposals are properly delivered and maintained, including archiving project artifacts, transitioning any necessary information to others, internal data entry, and participating in project kickoff meetings.

Assist with procurement activities when required.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree, ideally in engineering (chemical, electrical, mechanical, computer)

Working knowledge of manufacturing automation systems.

Working knowledge of electrical components used within an industrial automation system.

Working knowledge of computer systems and networking.

Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Ability to work unsupervised once trained.

Ability to perform critical thinking and problem solving.

Excellent technical writing skills.

Ability to take ownership of the work product and follow through to completion.
