Billing Specialist

Job Description

HealthCare Strategies (HCS) is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for maintaining positive cash flow for the clients you represent ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance companies, and maintaining accurate patient records. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and medical billing processes.

Responsibilities:

- Review and verify accuracy of patient demographic and insurance information

- Submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by mail

- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, and resubmit and/or file appeals as necessary

- Process payments from insurance companies and patients

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the billing system

- Answer patient inquiries regarding billing and insurance coverage

- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate documentation and coding

- Stay updated on industry changes in medical coding, billing regulations, and reimbursement practices

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred

- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role

- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, CPT), and billing processes

- Familiarity with medical office software systems (e.g., EHR, practice management software)

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
