OVERVIEW

USCRI manages a Reception and Placement (R&P) program across the U.S. through a cooperative agreement with the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration, U.S. Department of State. The R&P program assists newly resettled refugees in the United States and helps them secure early economic self-sufficiency and successfully integrate into American society. The R&P Training Officer plays a critical role in ensuring that resettlement agencies and their staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively serve refugees and immigrants. This position is responsible for developing and delivering training programs on a variety of topics related to the resettlement field. The R&P Training Officer also works closely with USCRI Network Offices to assess their training needs and provide technical assistance. This can include supporting the planning and delivery of cross-program workshops and conferences for the Refugee and Social Services Division.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Under the supervision of the Supervisory Program Officer, identify and assess the training needs of USCRI network offices and their staff.

• Develop and deliver training related to the identified training needs, including webinars, self-paced e-learning, and online certificate courses to the USCRI network offices according to the Cooperative Agreement and Program Guidelines.

• Provide technical assistance to resettlement agencies on a variety of topics related to R&P program guidelines.

• Stay up to date on the latest developments in refugee resettlement policy and best practices and share the knowledge and experience with the affiliate offices.

• Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs by analyzing feedback data from training participants and generating training reports.

• Lead the design, creation, and development of standardized outreach materials and information on available capacity-building resources to be disseminated through USCRI’s network.

• Develop relationships with partner agencies, government agencies, and other stakeholders to foster the development and implementation of training programs for USCRI Network Staff.

• Represent USCRI on related working groups and other relevant meetings with US Government and technical assistance providers.

• Design, update, and edit R&P program manuals, documentation tools, and forms as necessary.

• Lead working group calls and facilitate the sharing of best practices and cross-site collaboration.

• Collect data and report on program implementation.

• Identify, leverage, and stay abreast of relevant existing promising practices and tools from a wide range of sources and partners to enhance resource capability and impact.

• Travel to USCRI network offices to provide technical assistance and/or monitor for program compliance as needed.

• Provide logistical and substantive support in organizing large workshops and conferences for partner agency staff.

• Function as a contributing R&P team and Refugee and Social Services division member and collaborate closely with colleagues to plan and deliver team or division-wide activities to better achieve USCRI’s goals.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Master's degree in a related field OR a bachelor’s degree with at least three years of experience in related fields.

• Experience providing training and technical assistance required, preferably including in building the capacity of refugee service providers.

• Experience working with refugee serving programs and/or related programs aiming to increase access to critical resources for immigrant and underserved populations, preferred.

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of immigrant needs and services.

• High proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and ability and willingness to work both as a team member and independently, with a high level of self-motivation.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with USCRI affiliates, national partners, and funders.

• Highly adaptable and flexible with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.

• Ability to travel domestically, several times per year.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

• Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Program Trainings.

• Completion of additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.

• Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.

• Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.

• Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
