Job Description

Wenokur Riordan, a four-attorney law firm, finds practical solutions for financially distressed individuals and businesses and solves complicated insolvency problems for both debtors and creditors.

The Legal Assistant will work with four senior attorneys and a paralegal in state and federal court.

Initially, the Legal Assistant will be in the office five days a week, and after probation may work from home on Fridays. Please note this will never be a fully remote position.

$60,000 - $70,000 yearlyResponsibilities:

Prepares, proofreads, formats, and files pleadings in State, Federal, and Bankruptcy courts.

Provides customer service and responsiveness to firm needs through phone calls, emails, letters, and other communications.

Files and calendars incoming options.

Schedules calls and meetings, assuring that the attorneys’ calendars are accurately maintained and organized in a logical and efficient manner.

Interacts with the courts and administrative agencies regarding hearings, motions, and other appearances, becoming the courts’ primary point of contact with the firm for all administrative and scheduling issues.

Maintains the Firm Master Calendar with important events, deadlines, and reminders and maintains the attorneys’ calendars, ensuring all are updated and organized.

Prepares and sends correspondence as directed.

Ensures case files are organized and include all relevant materials and information.

Enters time and billing data as needed.

Makes copies and scans documents.

Assists paralegals and attorneys in preparing for hearings and trials.Qualifications:

A Legal Assistant should have at least a high school diploma. Advanced training at a college or university is preferred.

Five years of experience as a legal assistant is preferred.

PC literate. (Need: experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PDF formatting software such as Adobe, some proficiency in Excel)

Proficiency in filing both state and federal court documents.

Operates with a sense of urgency, but in doing so does not compromise the quality of work.

Values, cares about, and aspires to excellence, takes feedback constructively, and seeks to be a continuous learner.

A collaborative team player, who will be able to provide references, can speak to this.

Has very strong organization skills (you pride yourself on how you think and plan)
