SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to maintain a safe and secure environment for the entire facility. Security presence is required seven days a week / three shifts per day.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Manage access to the Interim Care Center (ICC) by controlling the front entrance and by monitoring the other entrances via surveillance cameras.
Check staff and visitor identification prior to entrance to the facility.
Ensure all visitors sign in and out on the appropriate log.
Obtain copy of identifying information (driver’s license, Employee I.D. card, etc.) of all client visitors and maintain record. Ensure such identifying information correlates with the Sign-In Log.
Prevent any unauthorized access to the facility.
Manage the safety of all the floors, and outside perimeter, of the ICC by reviewing surveillance video.
Security is expected to walk the parameters of the facility in random intervals.
Effectively communicate with all levels of program staff in regard to client, staff or facility safety needs.
If a client elopes from the facility, Security is expected to follow them to keep them safe until assistance from ICC staff arrive.
In the event a client leaves the program without permission Security will follow the client and ensure their safety until staff arrive to
Complete all required documentation / logs as designated by the Supervisor and program administration.
Follow all program objectives, systems and directives as indicated by supervisors.
Adhere to all Agency and Division policies and procedures, including Agency Conceal Carry Weapons policy and Division Elopement policy.
Acts as a liaison between milieu staff and the Chicago Police Department.
When requested by management staff, assist in the facilitation of client self-searches when entering the facility.
Report to all scheduled work sites on time and fully prepared to engage in all job responsibilities.
Fully and professionally respond to and implement all directives and advice offered by all supervisory and training personnel as well as professionally offered feedback from coworkers.
Attend and participate in program and agency meetings and trainings as designated by program management.
Complete all Core Curriculum training(s) required for this position, including the clinical model / behavior management program and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI).
Must maintain a high level of confidentiality in regard to client information.
Must have the ability to remain calm, take command, provide guidance, make sound, independent decisions, and resolve conflicts during security incidents and emergency situations.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) and active, or retired, credentials as a Chicago, or Suburban, Police Officer, County Sheriff’s Officer or Probation Officer, or Illinois State Police Officer is preferred.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Current driver’s license
Current auto insurance
Willing to work varying hours based on the need of the program. Hours may include evenings and weekends.
