The business already has one of the most extensive collections of large tonnage injection moulding machines in the UK with continued investments planned.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, as a Multi Skilled Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance of 17 injection moulding machines ranging from 90 tonne to 2700 tonne and associated ancillary equipment including robots, material handling systems, conveyors and general facilities maintenance. You will be responsible for carrying out PPM’s across all machinery on site, to ensure safe and efficient operation. You will have Engineering KPIs and manufacturing targets to achieve, which will include measures against OEE, Scrap, OTIF & Energy.

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Location: Barbot Hall Industrial Estate, Mangham Road, Rotherham, S61 4RJ

Hours: 40 hours per week, 8 hour shifts, with 30 minutes unpaid break

8:00am to 4:30pm

3 week rotating pattern:

Week 1: Monday to Friday

Week 2: 4 days worked between Monday to Friday & Saturday

Week 3: 4 days worked between Monday to Friday & Saturday

Regular overtime also available

Duties will include (but are not limited to): -

Work to achieve Maintenance KPI’s to ensure manufacturing targets are met

Carry out breakdown and preventative maintenance on all machinery and fixtures

Ensure all preventive maintenance is completed according to schedule

Investigate and resolve machine related problems

Support with the Maintenance of all machinery and facilities on site

Liaise closely with the Shift Engineer / Maintenance Manager on issues regarding production downtime, planned preventative maintenance, and reactive repairs.

Identify root causes of technical related problems to provide effective countermeasures

Analyse, identify and correct/repair any machine issues that prevent or hinder normal planned production timelines and rates.

Manage, lead and support on project work and CI initiatives (e.g. OEE, uptime, throughput, waste reduction, housekeeping and process improvement)

Work as part of a multi disciplinary team, where you may carry out tasks outside of your core skills e.g. CI projects, New Product introductions, machine moves etc.)

Work in line with 5S, SMED, Kaizen and Health & Safety systems within the factory

Train and mentor Engineering Apprentices on site

Ensure you carry out your duties in adherence to all company policies

Complete other ad hoc duties as they arise.

The Person

Essential skills and experience:

Educated to HND or above in a multi skilled engineering discipline (Mechanical bias with electrical qualification or vice versa is sufficient)

Time served apprenticeship in engineering

Experience working in a fast paced manufacturing environment

Experience in repairing and maintaining machines and tools with the ability to read and understand technical drawings

Ability to use in house IT systems and Microsoft Office packages

Up to date knowledge and experience working with large format modern injection moulding machinery and tooling

Good literacy and communication skills with reporting abilities

Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

The successful candidate will:

have an excellent understanding of and a willingness to work in accordance with approved standards and safe operating procedures

be able to prioritise your workload and work using your own initiative

have experience in the use of overhead cranes (advantageous)

Have good knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, pneumatics & mechanical (fault finding, maintenance, reading drawings/schematics, etc).
