SUMMARY

This position reports directly to Operations Supervisor. The incumbent is responsible for assisting with production operations in a specific area/process on a single shift. Coordinates activities of assigned work groups to ensure that all personnel are adequately deployed and production operations are properly scheduled to achieve planned requirements. Works under limited supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Coordinates the day-to-day operations in an accurate and timely manner.

Demonstrates an understanding of all company policies and procedures in order to effectively lead team members.

Promotes employee engagement, support, communication and education on Key Principles and Daicel Principles.

Understands, balances, and assist in achieving business goals – safety, quality, productivity, scrap, and downtime.

Takes appropriate measures to ensure all products are completed to production and technical specifications (including SPC) regarding quality.

Coordinates and assign work schedules, making necessary adjustments to achieve daily production requirements.

Coordinates and assists in providing proper training of production personnel in assigned operation.

Ensures that all production documentation is current, properly maintained, and properly utilized by applicable personnel. Ensures self-audits are performed.

Reads, interprets, and executes manufacturing procedures, engineering shop work requests, and engineering drawings.

Ensures that productivity objectives are met and achieved.

Optimizes machine “UP” and “RUN” times’ utilization.

Troubleshoots production problems.

Maintains production reports and records.

Defines problems, collect data, establish facts and make valid conclusions with regards to the process and the quality of the product.

Regularly performs audits for Safety and Quality purposes.

Training Responsibilities.

Some injection molding experience.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum educational experience includes a High School Diploma or G.E.D. some college or technical training preferred. Minimum experience includes five years manufacturing experience in a production or Safety Training Captain role which must include some combination of safety, quality, team leadership, problem solving, group presentations, effective meeting leadership experience.

The individual must be able to demonstrate proficiency in arithmetic, Microsoft Applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) with an emphasis on spreadsheet preparation, a working knowledge of World Class manufacturing concepts (i.e. KanBan, Constraint Management), a strong desire to work in a team environment, and excellent communication, motivational and organizational skills. This positions also requires the ability to understand all policies, procedures, instructions, rules and regulations (including all safety training and safety information) associated with this position which are written in English. In addition, the individual must be able to appropriately respond to these and, where needed, provide reports, presentations, information and communications in English. Must be available to work days, evenings, or weekends and overtime as required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written and diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Must be able to read, comprehend and interpret, policies, labor laws and federal regulations. Must be able to understand and apply DSSA, Inc. documentation including SOP, MI, PS, PMP, MSP, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to lighting and temperature as required for the office and manufacturing areas. Appropriate safety equipment is required by area. There is potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. A considerable amount of moving from department to department may occur in unfavorable weather conditions. The employee is exposed to the inherent dangers of the explosive materials used in DSSA, Inc.’s manufacturing processes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move throughout the facility, traverse within production areas, communicate with others, and detect or exchange information or ideas. The employee occasionally is required to perform functions which require the manual operation of both general office productivity and manufacturing equipment as well as the ability to place, reach, detect, ascend/descend, and position self to navigate within confined working spaces. The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. The employee must occasionally move or transport up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close inspection, identification of objects from a distance, color determination, peripheral detection, depth judgment, and the ability to identify details in varying conditions.
