JOB SUMMARY:

Saginaw Valley State University, a DII member of the GreatLakes Intercollegiate Athletic conference invites applications for the positionof Assistant Coach for Men's & Women's Cross Country, Track & Field toassist the head coach to develop, promote, and supervise all facets of the track& field program; assist the head coach to develop and execute strategiesfor the recruitment of student-athletes for highly visible regionally andnationally competitive team; assist the head coach to organize and direct allaspects of the program, organizing practice sessions to enhance the team'sperformance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILIES:

Demonstratedknowledge of and adherence to all applicable NCAA and conference compliancerules and regulations.

Ensuring that all relevant institutional, conference, andNCAA rules and regulations are followed including, but not limited to playereligibility, recruiting, financial aid, scheduling, and academic progress.

Ensure compliance with all institutional, conference, andNCAA rules and regulations by student-athletes and sport-related staff.

Abides by NCAA Bylaws 10.1 and 11.1 regarding ethicalconduct and the responsibility to positively contribute to a campus culture ofNCAA rules compliance.

Responsible for promoting a positive academic environment toencourage all student-athletes to strive for academic excellence.

Assist in preparing and executing practice and game plans,strategies, and alternatives which are designed to bring success to theprogram.

Providing moral support and encouragement. Ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes.

Establishing and maintaining community contacts, which enhancesthe success of the program.

Assisting in the purchase, maintenance, and inventory ofuniforms and equipment.

Assist in directing and managing the recruiting efforts ofthe program.

Assist in designing and implementing off-season trainingprograms for student-athletes.

Assist in all fundraising needs for the program.

Maintain appropriate communications with student-athletesand parents.

Assist in the planning of banquets, fund raising efforts andother activities which promote the program.

Assist in managing travel arrangements for the team.

Assist with promoting, operating and coordinating summercamps.

Perform related and other duties as assigned by Head Coach

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree

Two years of relevant sport coaching or participationexperience at the collegiate level or higher

Knowledge and understanding ofNCAA rules and regulations.

Willingness to travel nights andweekends

Experience and ability to positively interact with diversestudent populations and groups.

Ability to handle and maintainconfidential information.

Abilityto perform the essential functions of the position with or withoutaccommodations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Exceptionalleadership skills.

Excellentoral and written communication and interpersonal skills

Strongdesire and ability to successfully recruit.

Strongfollow-through skills, as well as the ability to plan, organize, and controlprojects through to completion.

Fouryears of track and field coaching or participation experience at the collegiatelevel or higher.
