Summary of Job Duties:This posting will be used to fill multiple jobs for UAMS Job Expo 2024 in the Campus Operations department: Parking Ambassador, Security Officer, Groundskeeper, Patient Ambassador, Boiler Operator and Supply Tech positions.

PARKING AMBASSADOR

The Parking Ambassador is a member of the Parking Operations team. The Ambassador provides direct customer service with Pay Stations and Exit Verifiers as well as answering general questions regarding the UAMS Facilities or Parking regulations. The Ambassador enforces UAMS parking regulations by issuing warnings and/or citations for illegal parking, identifies scofflaws, and applies boots to vehicles. The Ambassador performs lot counts for available parking spaces and reports any maintenance items.

SECURITY OFFICER

The Public Safety Officer is responsible for the enforcement of traffic and criminal laws and parking regulations. This position is governed by law enforcement standards, state and federal laws, and agency policy.

GROUNDSKEEPER

Under direction of the UAMS Landscape Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining the landscaping and grounds maintenance for the healthcare, education, and research facilities on the UAMS Campus. This position is also responsible for assisting with all problems and/or emergencies relating to facility issues on the UAMS Campus.

PATIENT AMBASSADOR

The Patient Ambassador reports to the Supervisor of Hospitality Services and provides staffing for the multiple family hospitality services provided by the Department. Hospitality Services functions include staffing of the Hospital Information Desks, ICU Waiting Room desks, NICU desk, PRI Information Desks, PACU Dept., Cart Drivers, Discharge Lobby Desk, Outside Greeters, One Day Surgery desk, Cancer Institute after hours desk and a Concierge.

BOILER OPERATOR

The Boiler Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining boilers, chillers, and related equipment. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

SUPPLY TECH

The Supply Technician is responsible for proper handling and dispensing of medical/surgical supplies in clinical areas, supply par areas and various inventory locations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Parking Ambassador

HS diploma/GED

Valid Arkansas Driver's License

Security Officer

High School Diploma/GED.

Be at least 19 years of age.

Current and Valid Arkansas Driver’s License.

Ability to walk a minimum of 8 to 12 miles in an 8 to 12 hours shift.

Ability to climb stairwells.

Ability to communicate and maintain a good rapport with the campus population.

Groundskeeper

High School Diploma/GED plus 1 year of experience in Landscaping and/or schooling in the trade.

Valid AR Driver's license with fewer than 12 points on their Motor Vehicle Record.

Basic computer experience required.

Patient Ambassador

Experience in support/hospitality role and customer service in a hospital setting.

Must be able to work during Inclement Weather

Must be able to work rotating Weekends and Holidays.

Boiler Operator

High School Diploma/GED, plus 1-5 years of boiler house operations experience

Must have a valid Driver's License with fewer than 12 points on their Motor Vehicle Record.

Arkansas High Pressure Boiler License.

Supply Tech

High School/GED plus 6 (six) months experience with inventory, stocking or supply distribution.

Responsibilities:

Parking Ambassador

The Parking Ambassador operates the Remote Parking Management System (RPMS) and provides remote assistance to customers. The RPMS is staffed 24*7*365. The primary responsibilities while stationed at RPMS are to monitor cameras and remotely assist customers with various parking transactions as well as exception management. In the event remote customer assistance is not successful, an Ambassador is dispatched and stationed in the field to provide further assistance. Additional responsibilities may be assigned during non-peak hours and may include database management and various clerical duties. Must be ACIC / NCIC Certified / Valid Driver’s License Required.

Security Officer

Performs safety screenings at the metal detector

Patrols on foot inside buildings and performs property checks.

Fills in at Information Desk in main hospital during evening hours

Provides assistance for anyone needing it on campus.

Backs-up dispatchers when needed.

Upon request, escorts employees and members of the campus population to their desired locations.

Escorts patients from Outpatient Clinics (OPC) Holding Area to appointments.

Unlocks buildings and offices when requested.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Groundskeeper

Maintaining landscaping and grounds at UAMS campus.

Assist with facility related issues and/or emergencies

May perform other duties as assigned.

Patient Ambassador

Greet patients/families with a positive, customer-focused and appropriate manner, providing directions and information, helping find patient locations and otherwise assisting visitors.

Staffs Information desks in the assigned areas.

Staffs the intensive care units, working with nursing to provide guidance and enforcement of the visitation policies for those units.

Drive the courtesy cart along the prescribed route picking up and assisting patients and families who need help in getting to their destinations.

Assist patients into and out of cars as they arrive and depart the hospital.

Recognize patients and visitors in need of assistance and approach and fulfill the patient’s needs.

Monitor and maintain visitor waiting areas as assigned.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Boiler Operator

Operate and maintain (2) District Energy Plants; each with concurrently operating boilers including (5) 750HP high-pressure boilers, (3) 600HP hot water boilers, and (2) 250HP hot water boilers using Direct Digital Controls(DDC) via the Insight software.

Operate and maintain (2) District Energy Plants including (2) concurrently operating Heat Pump Chillers that result in approximately 3.6 million dollars in utility savings each year.

Monitor, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate equipment across hot water and chilled water systems, including: control valves, temperature and pressure sensors, and flow controls.

Perform routine checks on equipment in order to comply with all State and Federal codes and regulations.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Supply Tech

Responsible for accurately ordering and completely filling par levels of medical/surgical supplies in automated supply cabinets and manually controlled bulk par rooms.

Checks par areas on a daily basis and as assigned; breaks down pallets and delivers supplies on carts; refills central supply inventory locations and adjusts inventory counts.

Counts, manages and places replenishment orders as needed.

Rotates supplies into Sterile and non-sterile area’s on shelves, specialty carts, floors on the FIFO (first in, first out) basis when restocking; daily checks supplies for package integrity and outdates and removes damaged or outdated supplies.

Performs cycle counts and corrects counts on a daily basis and as needed to ensure accurate inventory counts.

Maintains cabinets and carts in assigned areas in a neat and orderly basis; organizes shelves, bins and labels and keeps the supply areas clean; follows through on needed repairs to cabinets and carts; removes unauthorized/excessive/damaged/outdated supplies.

Staffs the Central Supply dispatch window and tube systems as assigned; issues and records, supplies that are sent via pick up, delivery or tube system

Issues out procedural trays and carts and records the issuance.

Responsible for after hour delivery of Isolation cart.

May perform other duties as assigned.
