APG Office Furnishings is growing and searching for a motivated Project Designer.

Job Description: Responsible for the design process from initial discovery and programming, through installation and post-occupancy. Duties include client communication, programming, space planning, furniture and materials selections, quote generation, preparation of all installation plans and other necessary project documentation. Client engagement across project timeline including presentation of product and layout solutions, with or without Sales involvement, based on client relationship and circumstances. The Project Designer will manage multiple interior furnishings projects within a collaborative team environment.

Job Responsibilities include:

Review and assess the Project Scope of Work and collaborate with the Project Team on go forward strategy

Review and develop product specifications based upon client needs or design documents

Create interior furniture solutions using computer-generated design software, populating the space from scratch or from a predesigned floor plan

Create client deliverables specific to each project, including but not limited to floor plans, specifications, renderings, and 3D flythroughs

Assist in fabric and finish selection and presentation

Review all drawings and specifications for accuracy

Evaluate site conditions and gather field dimensions as needed to ensure fit and appropriateness of furniture selections

Create installation drawings and related documentation

Gather all necessary documents and client signoffs required for order entry

Record and track design hours for project billing

Additional responsibilities may be required depending on defined Project Scope of Work

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or related field

Minimum of 2 years corporate design experience

Proficiency in AutoCAD 2018 or newer, CAP 20/20 commercial software and Microsoft Office programs

Knowledge and competency in CET Designer a plus

Strong knowledge of Herman Miller, Knoll or other major systems manufacturers

Expertise in production of working drawings: floor plans, furniture plans, finish, floor and wall treatment schedules, interior elevations and isometrics, renderings, etc.

Ability to handle multiple office design projects and manage deliverable execution to project schedule

Enthusiastic team player with excellent client communication skills

Willingness to work within the office environment, travel between regional offices and to client locations as needed

Detail oriented individual with the ability to produce accurate furniture and finish specifications and installation drawings

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Exceptional communication and customer service skills

Knowledge of modular furniture (systems, power/data, etc.) a plus

Strong understanding of interior construction including architectural elements, lighting, electrical and basic base building knowledge

Ability to read and understand construction documents and specifications

Ability to adapt and prioritize deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to foster relationships, comfortable interfacing with all project stakeholders as well as the internal team

An aptitude with technology and a willingness to learn

High attention to detail and accuracy

Must be extremely organized, with good time management skills and the ability to work independently

Willingness to maintain continuing education and participate in additional training as required

Physical:

Seeing, color perception, hearing/listening, clear speech, hand and finger dexterity

Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time

Complex reading and writing skills, basic math skills, judgement/decision making, analysis/comprehension

Working Environment:

Regularly works with others face to face, over the phone, through video conferencing and email

Typically works in an office environment with moderate noise

Willing to travel between regional offices and to client locations as needed or required

Nature of work may require occasional overtime and some time spent out of the office
