From humble beginnings in Fremont Ohio, Beck Propane & Fuels has grown to become one of the largest independent suppliers of heating and commercial fuels in the region.

The LP Propane Route Driver is responsible for the operation of an energy delivery straight truck in a safe and efficient manner. Picks up and delivers loads as directed by the dispatcher. A professional demeanor is required in all aspects of the position while always maintaining a focus on customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operates delivery trucks according to state laws in a safe and prudent manner. As directed by the dispatcher, transports load over the required route to the proper destination, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.

Conducts proper pre and post-trip inspections of the truck. These include fuel level, air in tires, oil, water, lights, and other normal wear items. Reports any maintenance issues to management.

Tests and checks the Emergency Shutoff Valve on a daily basis.

Inspects the fire extinguisher and fill hose daily. Removes chocks before driving away from the shipping dock/loading area.

Insures that Do Not Deliver & collection accounts do not receive the product until cleared by the Credit Manager.

Chocks rear wheels of truck or trailer before any loading/unloading takes place.

Obtains shipping bills of lading and necessary signatures and returns completed paperwork to the shipping office. Maintains any related records required, including the Driver’s Daily Log, Trip Report, and Route Manifest. These reports are to be completed and turned into the main office (via personal mailbox or by hand) on a daily basis.

May be required to assist in the loading or unloading.

Ensures that periodic preventative maintenance is performed by notifying management of such needs in a timely manner.

Maintains cleanliness of truck.

Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor.

Basis of Evaluation

Maintain no reportable safety violations that result in lost time or property damage.

Incur no accidents, spills, cross-drops, or inaccurate deliveries.

Incur no vehicle roadside inspection violations / citations.

Accurate paperwork and accurate data entry in the delivery software, hand-helds or tablets.

Productivity Measures: Average Miles / Stop, Average Gallons / Drop, Average Gallons / Hour, Average Gallons / Mile

Qualifications

Valid state Commercial Driver License (Class B with Hazmat and Tanker endorsement) & clean driving record.

Requires a high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of trucks and in preventing damage to materials and equipment.

Physical Demands and Environmental Condition Requirements

Occasional: Standing, walking, sitting, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., pushing and pulling up to 100 lbs., hearing, various surface types, exposure to cold, vibration, moving mechanical parts hazards, electrical shock hazard, high exposed place hazard, explosion, and toxic/caustic chemical hazard

Frequent: Driving, kneeling, reaching, hand and foot controls, climbing, stooping, forward bending, squatting, talking, seeing, exposure to hot and cold temperatures
