The Jordan Economic Reform Activity Task Order 1 (ERA TO1) is a 5-year, $54 million program funded by USAID, which aims to support the Government of Jordan (GOJ) to prioritize and implement economic reforms. Through coordination with the GOJ, the Jordanian and international private sector, other donors, and Jordanian civil society, ERA TO 1 will (1) advance economic reforms, (2) strengthen the business enabling environment, (3) increase exports and local, regional, and international investments, and (4) respond to emerging priorities.

Banyan Global is recruiting a GESI Specialist that is willing to assume the role on the team and open to a mentorship program to increase their knowledge and skill in GESI integration in the sectors of economic growth and public policy. In cooperation with project technical and management teams, the GESI Specialist is responsible for guiding, planning, and ensuring an integrated and effective approach to implementation of all Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) training and capacity-building related activities, including workshops, on-the-job training, mentoring and coaching, events, and ensuring that all such activities are in line with our counterparts expectations, USAID regulations, and the project agreement. The GESI Specialist will advise management, technical team leaders, and operations staff to ensure that project-related activities under their authority are successfully implemented and sustainable by project partners. Provide technical direction and strategic oversight of all Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) standalone and cross cutting interventions

Lead all GESI-integration across all project components over the life of project

Revise the GESI Strategy in coordination with local and home office teams

Provide technical support for achieving, tracking and measuring GESI-focused indicators ensuring that the GESI performance targets and deliverables outlined in the ERA Project agreement and annual work plans are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner, and that they meet high quality standards

Manage technical quality control for all assigned areas of GESI training and capacity-building related work, including design and implementation of training curricula, and development of a cohesive, integrated and sustainable training system

Assess training methods and the results of trainings and capacity-building programs, and lead in making improvements

Coordinate with other project teams, management teams, including logistical issues, to ensure smooth implementation of GESI training and capacity-building programs

Provide GESI support in investments, anchor companies, and private sector engagement activities, as required

Liaise regularly with representatives of ministries, counterparts and stakeholders' representatives responsible for overseeing and implementing, GESI training and capacity-building programs

Provide GESI training to project staff and local stakeholders over the life of project

Lead the review, design, and management of GESI-standalone or integrated local grants and subcontracts

Contribute to project quarterly reports, annual work plans, and other project reports and deliverables as required

Lead on GESI learning agenda in close collaboration with MEL director

Undertake assessment trips, initiate and evaluate the progress of training activities, and suggest adjustments as needed

Support planning and coordination of other project events to help ensure high quality results and effective GESI integration, coordination, and implementation

Ensure collaboration and coordination, sharing of information, needs, and progress across all functions and components of ERA to implement as one team including but limited to GESI, MEL, Communications, and all component team leads

Contribute to and/or lead as assigned periodic planning documents, progress, and impact reports for USAID and other partners

Operate with integrity and assurance of confidentiality, commitment to excellence, compliance with all USAID rules and regulations, contractual requirements, Banyan Global and Chemonics international policies, systems, and values

Coordinate tasks with other project staff working as a team as directed by the Chief of Party

Take active role in the USAID GESI community of practice

Willingness to be coached by GESI Advisor to advance experience and skill set in Economic Empowerment and Public Policy.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in gender integration and women's economic empowerment in Jordan

Written and verbal fluency in English and Arabic is required. Excellent writing skills in both languages is required

Strong interpersonal, planning, management, and communication skills are required

Strong qualitative and quantitative data collection skills

Prior experience working with public, private and/or a government ministry is preferred

Prior experience with technical assistance and/or donor-funded projects is preferred

Demonstrated representational skills in fostering relationships with partner governments, donors, and national and international NGOs and partners is preferred

Strong technical research, writing, and management skills in GESI and women's empowerment is preferred

Previous experience as a lead GESI Expert on USAID-funded project in Jordan preferred

Previous experience with USAID or on USAID-funded project preferred

Experience And Education

A bachelor's degree in economics, development, or related field, or comparable level of experience is preferred

At least five (5) years expertise in gender equality, women's empowerment, and social inclusion; experience in economic/business context preferred

A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience with institutional development and/or training programs in Jordan, two years of which should be as a training manager or comparable experience

At least three (3) years' experience in developing and implementing new and innovative frameworks, methodology, and tools to identify and analyze barriers to inclusive growth in Jordan and the impact of these barriers on the women and other disadvantaged groups

At least three (3) years' experience leading multisectoral teams and working with donors and Jordanian government

Training of Trainers (TOT) training and certificate is preferred.

LOCATION AND MODALITY OF ASSIGNMENT

The Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist will be based in the project's office in Amman, Jordan but may be asked to travel domestically for activities.
