ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Blast parts/surfaces (steel, metal, etc.) using blast equipment and a variety of blast media (Aluminum Oxide and glass bead).
Clean and prepare part surfaces to prevent contamination of media
Follow shop schedule and travelers for each job
Mask treads and plug holes as required
Handle product safely using a forklift, cranes or carts to move product in and out of blast area
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment
Inspect finished parts to ensure conformance to customer specifications
Maintain and keep area safe, organized and clean
Enter times and close jobs on a computer after completion
Effectively manage time to ensure on-time delivery of every project
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
A high school diploma or equivalent
Previous blasting experience is preferred.
Knowledge of the different blast grades and what type of media should be used for different types of metal a plus
Ability to read blueprints a plus
Ability to work independently as well as effectively as a team member
Adhere to ISO procedure qualifications
Strong sense of safety and following all safety procedures
Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to understand and follow through on verbal instructions is required
Excellent hand-eye coordination to consistently mask parts and plug holes along with the ability to accurately measure areas for masking
Consistently demonstrate sound safety practices, as well as the ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand on ladders, kneel, bend down, and stretch is required.
Physically able to wear protective equipment on a regular basis is required.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
