JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: CNC Machine Programmer/ Setup / Operator 3

Reports to: Machine Shop Manager / Machine Shop Supervisor

Position Summary:

The CNC Machine Programmer/ Setup/ Operator 3 is responsible for the setup and operation of the CNC equipment including lathes and mills. The job involves a mix of problem-solving and repetitive tasks. Employees may be required to monitor multiple machines. Typical job duties include setting up the machines (fixtures, tools, touch-off, first piece inspection), loading materials into the machine, and monitoring machine operation during use. An individual in this role may also be responsible for training lower-level operators. An individual in this role is expected to be cross-trained to perform setups on multiple machining centers and programming.

Essential Functions:

Proficient in CNC machining, and programming including setup procedure, operation, and quality requirements.

Proficient in reading and interpreting manufacturing drawings and production documentation.

Math competency required. Ability to simple perform calculations required for machine setup and adjustments to maintain required dimensions.

Working knowledge of measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, and other instruments needed to conduct inspection of work product.

Understand and follow all Company and OSHA safety procedures.

Coordinate with supervisor to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to machine schedule.

Maintain a well-organized, safe and clean work area at all times.

Conduct and document preventative maintenance on the machines.

Able to stand for more than 4 hours at a time.

Able to lift 50 lbs. or more.

Work a minimum of 40 hours per week and overtime as assigned.

Follow all safety guidelines as outlined in the company safety manual.

Cross-train and perform other duties as assigned based on organizational demand.

Skills/Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED required

Minimum 3 yrs. of CNC machining programming and/or manufacturing industry experience

Experience with Haas, Doosan, and Fadal controls is a plus

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is a plus

Impeccable attention to detail

An analytical mind with good math skills

Great communication and interpersonal abilities

Must be reliable and trustworthy

Collaborate with warehouse employees and other staff to ensure business goals are met
