Sonnets Academy is seeking an experienced full time Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to join our Infant Classroom (6 weeks to 15 months old). Sonnets Academy is seeking a kind, imaginative, and nurturing assistant preschool teacher. This warm and patient individual should have creativity and lots of passion for the field of Early Childhood Education.

Our Early Childhood Assistant Teacher is responsible for supporting the curriculum lessons in alignment with our developmental curricular goals and fostering a safe and organized learning environment. This position works in collaboration with the Director, Education Coordinator and the other members of the infant classrooms and is directly supervised and mentored by the classroom Lead Teacher. Youll help provide a child-centered, play-based curriculum, which reflects best practices in the daycare industry.

Responsibilities and Duties

Support and help implement developmentally appropriate curriculum to foster a play based and structured environment

Help facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safe peer interactions throughout the day

Maintain a safe, organized classroom that supports each childs independent learning

In collaboration with Lead Teacher, review weekly and monthly lesson plans and prep the materials needed to implement the activities

Documents daily reports for each child on classroom app for parents

Meet the needs of the whole child and support the social and emotional growth of all children

Follow supervision, mentorship and instruction from Lead Teacher for the purpose of providing an effective and efficient classroom environment and addressing the needs of individual students

Attend and participate in age group team collaborative meetings, whole staff meetings, classroom team meetings and cross age group team meetings

Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with children, parents, staff and community members by communicating in a respectful, courteous and confidential manner

Qualifications and Skills

CDA, Associates Degree, or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for 6 weeks to-15-month olds

Experience implementing curriculum lessons for infant age group

CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification

Proof of up to date physical, TB Test, and immunizations

Food Managers License or Food Handlers Training Certificate

Must be a team player and eager to work with others

Excellent organization skills

Positive and proactive communication skills

One or more years of professional experience in an early childhood classroom

Be open to continual professional development in the field of early childhood

Must meet and follow all City and State licensing requirements

Salary dependent on experience and level of education.
