Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, coordinates all aspects of specimen collections or specimen processing to meet the laboratory support needs for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Recommends and implements changes as needed.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED:

1. All applicants must meet one (1) if the following: a. Must hold a B.S. degree in medical technology or chemical, physical, or biological science, plus one (1) year experience in a clinical laboratory, OR b. Must hold a B.S. or B.A. degree in Education, Business Administration, or other health related specialty, plus three (3) years experience in a health care delivery system or laboratory service, OR c. Must hold a two (2) year Associate Degree in a health related specialty or Business Administration, plus five (5) years experience in health care or laboratory service, OR d. Must have ten (10) years experience as a phlebotomist and laboratory data clerk in a health care delivery system or laboratory service. 2. Knowledge of regulatory agencies standards, including but not limited to: CAP, AABB, GA DHR, Joint Commission and CLIA 3. Ability to assist or direct the development, organization and implementation of projects, programs, and policies necessary for the operation and enhancement of the specimen procurement section. 4. Ability to work independently and supervise assigned personnel. 5. Ability to communicate effectively, and must possess good written and oral communication skills. 6. Color vision acuity is required to safely perform the duties of this position. 7. All applicants must submit to and pass a Color-Acuity screening Test.

PREFERRED:

1. Demonstrated knowledge of computers and computer systems, particularly SunQuest and Microsoft applications. 2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in specimen procurement and regulations as they relate to clinical laboratory specimens. 3. Demonstrated public relations skills and service excellence training. 4. Previous supervisory experience.

Fri - Sun: 7:00a - 7:30p
