Position Summary:

The Clinical Director holds twenty-four-hour accountability for the delivery of quality nursing care and operational management of surgery. The job encompasses integration, facilitation and coordination of leadership, management, operational, quality improvement, and clinical activities of surgery. Serves as a professional role model, leader, mentor and clinical resource. Responsible for supervision and day to day operations of assigned department(s).

Major Position Responsibilities:

Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.

Responsible for daily operation of Surgery areas.

Integration, facilitation and coordination of leadership, operations, quality improvement and clinical activities.

Conduct performance assessment and evaluations of staff

Works collaboratively with Medical Directors, Division Chiefs, Surgeons, Anesthesiologists and staff to design and implement surgical services program enhancement to continually improve efficiency and effectiveness of surgery.

Maintains knowledge of regulatory standards, recommended standards of nursing practice and employment regulations

Qualifications:

Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible leadership in surgery/surgical services, required.

Must be dependable, have integrity, initiative, tact, ability to work on details, ability to learn and possess a sense of values and ethical standards, required.

Effective communication skills, required.

Demonstrated knowledge to lead change and support achievement of strategic initiatives, required.

Experience with regulatory standards, required.

Education:

Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing, required.

BSN or Bachelor’s Degree in health-related field, required.

MSN or Master’s Degree in Business or Health Related field, required (will consider progress toward Master’s degree with completion date within twelve months of hire).

Licenses:

Current California RN license, required.

Certification:

Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (healthcare provider), required.

CNOR, required upon hire or obtained within one (1) year of date of hire.

Each new hire candidate who is offered employment must pass a physical evaluation, urine drug screen and pre-employment background checks before starting work.
