Overview:

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is the internal staffing agency for the Johns Hopkins Health System and partner hospitals, providing temporary support to a variety of the Johns Hopkins locations. HOURS:

Monday through Friday

9:30 - 6:00

LOCATION: Howard County General Hospital @ 10700 Charter Drive (Charter Professional Building adjacent to hospital)

Patient Services Coordinator Summary

Offers friendly, courteous, and confidential assistance to every patient, to ensure that the patient has a positive, experience while at Johns HOpkins. Maintains accurate information on each patient to facilitate the patient encounter. Uses automated systems to expedite patient scheduling, pre-registration, check-in and check-out. Works with others in a TEAM environment.

Responsibilities:

Familiar with multiple insurance portals (JAI Medical, BCBS, United Health Care, etc.) to perform insurance verifications of benefits and authorizations.

Will work with three other PSCs and a PRN PSC. Total of 16 in dept including CMAs and techs.

Sees upto 330 patients a day.

Register patients/check-ins and check-outs

Answer phones and handle messages and triaging calls in a professional and superior customer service-oriented manner.

Work with Orthopaedic Surgeon (non-clinical duties) to perform prior authorizations and referrals

Scheduling for x-rays.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED

Prior EPIC experience required.

Excellent customer service and minimum of 1 year customer service experience in a health care setting.

Prior Patient Access or ER exp helpful.

Teamwork attitude a MUST.

Ability to work in large department. Jump in/assist team.

Dependable/on-time

Friendly/polite/ability to communicate with internal department and engage with patients.

Patient and resourceful for conflict resolution
