PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Amarillo Quality Leader provides Quality Management leadership with respect to the T30 Single End Roving and Wet Used Chop Platform. The Quality Leader demonstrates teamwork and commitment to the success of Amarillo Site and Owens Corning. The Quality Leader is a recognized leader that demonstrates Owens Corning’s values and a commitment to high performance. The Quality Leader plans, strategizes, and evaluates quality assurance process through examining the systems, measures, and statistical techniques. They will create and analyze operations and restrictions regarding services. Individual is responsible for auditing and executing training on quality assurance concepts and equipment. Quality Leader will collaborate with other engineering business-partners within the Owens Corning organization, along with customers and suppliers. They will inspect quality equipment and recommend improvements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Knowing the Manufacturing Processes and building a Quality Management System

Continuously builds an intimate insight and knowledge of the technical processes internally and externally with customers

Improve and implement a Quality Management System in the plant, gaining alignment with the entire plant leadership team

Developing and implementing procedures and systems to ensure products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations

Knowing Our Customers

Has the responsibility to ensure customer satisfaction is paramount in designing, implementing, and maintaining processes and quality systems.

Identifying, understanding, and teaching others the critical product characteristics required to provide our customers with a quality product

Supporting experiments or trials for new and existing products to ensure they meet customer’s fitness for use

Manage customer complaints including service exceptions and claim dollars

Responsible for investigating all customer complaints, determining root causes, implementing corrective actions, and communicating with the customer.

Providing the Process Design

The Quality Leader supports the capital delivery team to ensure production process is designed correctly to ensure safe production processes that comply with OC standards and legal requirements

Ergonomically sound production process that have no impact on the health of operators and staff

Environmentally friendly production processes that minimize the environmental footprint of the facility

Cost effective production processes that allow OC to effectively compete on the marketplace

Supporting T30 and WUCs strive for Operational Excellence

Develops, communicates, and leads plans to implement and sustain the Quality Management Systems that ensure cost effective processes to meet customer requirements

Supports plans to operate and maintain facilities in such a way as to sustain mechanical integrity and prevent incidents

Supports plans to maximize the efficiency of operations and conserve natural resources

Live the Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities

Safe, clean, and environmentally friendly work environment, and becoming and maintaining to be compliant with company and local regulation

Ensuring that all control plans, work instructions, and other procedures related to the technical operation of the production lines ensure the safety of employees

Building a culture where safety is a true condition of employment

Implementing a personal safety action plan

Leading and Developing Talent

Lead, coach and develop direct reports (Process Engineers)

Provides leadership of all quality initiatives in the Plant

Leads the development, implementation and evaluation of quality processes and procedures in the Plant, all working toward achieving the quality goals of the Plant and delighting the customer

Managing the training of primary employees in the manufacturing process

Training employees in process control procedures

Working with employees to develop and implement operator control plans

Works in a team environment where accountability for compliance of all quality systems and customer satisfaction is incumbent on both the leadership team and the individual.

Partnering with maintenance to develop and implement total productive maintenance plans for equipment to ensure employee understanding and ownership

Individual quality goals and objectives

Presence of operator control plans

Executes capital projects related to quality, TPM, Improvement projects or others as needed

Provides QM Pillar Leadership for the QM Pillar team

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field, preferably in chemical or mechanical engineering

A minimum of 5-7 years of technical (leadership) experience in quality

Experience with developing and implementing Quality Management Systems (ISO, TS)

Experience and implementation of SPC and statistics

Strong customer management with balanced sales and operations focus

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Six Sigma or lean manufacturing experience

Familiar with ISO 9001 type quality systems

Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ CQE)

Knowledge and experience in project management

TPM
