Data Scientist

We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist to join our team to work on finance operations. This role is essential in managing our financial records and operations, blending bookkeeping, vendor payments, tax preparation and e-commerce financial management. This position favors individuals who find joy in math and algorithms rather than conventional accounting practices. This role is on-site in our San Diego office.

Key Responsibilities

Handle bookkeeping tasks including month end reconciliation and accounts payable and receivable.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

Manage vendor payments, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

Assist in tax preparation and filing, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.

Oversee the financial aspect of our Shopify storefront, including sales tracking, inventory management, and revenue reporting.

Utilize QuickBooks for various financial operations and reporting.

Develop and maintain financial spreadsheets for internal tracking and analysis.

Stay updated on industry trends and changes in tax laws.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Finance or related field.

Proven experience in bookkeeping, financial reporting, and tax preparation.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

Experience with managing financials in a Shopify environment.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Supply chain experience a plus
