Job Summary:

Reporting to the Installation Manager the HVAC/R Installation Technician is responsible for install ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration systems and equipment; inspect and perform tests on systems and equipment at start-up to assure proper functioning. This position has constant contact with the Project Managers and Sales Engineers to receive installation detail and communicate project requirements and results. This position has frequent contact with customers, requiring reasonable tact and strong verbal/written communication skills.

Customer Service

Always present a professional positive and helpful attitude when interacting with customers and co-workers.

Exhibit an understanding of Human Relations and functions as a “team player”.

Observe additional maintenance needs requiring attention and report to the appropriate people.

Work Condition and Paperwork

Organize all work detail (work performed, service recommendations, etc.) and complete an accurate work ticket for billing and payroll purposes. Submit all paperwork to the office each Monday before 10:00 AM or at end of each month is required.

Obtain, record on work ticket and communicate to vendor an appropriate purchase order number when purchasing job-related parts and supplies.

Essential Functions

This is a physically demanding job involving heavy physical labor, often in adverse conditions and uncomfortable positions.

Loads van with equipment and tools and drives van to and from job sites.

Moves equipment (such as furnaces, compressors, blowers, heat pumps, heat exchangers, duct work, pipes and cables, controls, etc.), supplies and tools (hand and power) to designated areas of job sites.

Perform associated plumbing and electrical work including making terminal connections.

Must be able to perform all job activities at heights, working off ladders, scaffolds, roofs, platforms, etc.

Job Qualifications

Must have valid Michigan drivers’ licenses, good driving record (our insurance must accept you)

High school diploma or GED preferred

Read and write English

Write legibly

Read a tape measure, perform basic math skills: (Add, Subtract, Fractions, Calculate sales tax)

Paperwork filled out properly daily.

Follow verbal and written instructions.

Follow all safety rules and procedures.

Be able to wear all P.P.D’s when applicable (steel toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, hard hat, etc.)

Must be able to wear respirator.

Lift, climb, bend, and kneel to complete assigned tasks.

Tolerate working at heights off a ladder or scaffold, on roofs, aerial lifts, etc.

Perform heavy physical labor during adverse weather conditions.

Work in confined spaces, exposed to fumes, chemicals, grease, acids, oil and in the vicinity of noise and vibration with proper P.P.D’s.

Maintain cooperative and effective working relationship with others.

Be available to work any time of the day to take care of your customer. (Before 8:00 am and after 5:00 pm during the week, any time weekends and holidays)

4 hours safety training required annually

Must have refrigerant transition and recovery certification card (levels 2-3)

Continuing education is expected.

Physical Requirements

Lift 50 lbs. frequently, 100 lbs occasionally, and 100+ lbs with assistance

Climbing (ladders, stairs, etc)(frequently with tools or equipment in hand)

Bending, stooping, twisting, and squatting

Extended periods of walking

Regular exposure to weather conditions

Operating a motor vehicle, Hi-low, forklifts, etc.

Owning and operating power or hand tools-from floor to above head (drilling often over your head and/or awkward positions)

Exposure to potentially harmful chemicals or materials with proper P.P.D’s

Non-essential duties and responsibilities
