About the company

Hoimyung Texas Inc. is an EV (electric vehicle) battery manufacturing subsidiary of Hoimyung out of South Korea. Collectively “Hoimyung”, the company makes specialty chemical products for EV batteries, semi-conductor cleaners, electronic device films, and water-treatment facility, and operates in a few other business sectors. The current job opening is for hiring at Beaumont, TX plant, which manufactures dispersant and insulation slurry for EV batteries.

We are currently looking for an experienced quality control Lab Manager at the Beaumont, TX plant.

Job description

The Lab Manager is responsible for oversite of overall operations of the QC lab and to support quality control for plant operations, and eventual customer shipments. Because of the wide scope of communication needs, the candidate must have good interpersonal skills in dealing with senior executives, plant managers, and coworkers across the manufacturing, vendors, customers, and the 3rd parties.

The Lab Manager is responsible for calibration, acceptance of the company’s products, sampling, in-process and final Inspection, analytical testing, proper maintenance of lab equipment and facility, and accountability of integrity of the products.

Lead customer audits of all related processes.

The Lab Manager has to implement certifying IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001, and continue to follow up to maintain the certifications.

Monitor performance and competencies of the lab staff, provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, career development and ongoing performance feedback.

Be able to analyze data and develop initiatives to improve plant performance.

Track, analyze, and lead root-cause analysis for all quality and customer complaint issues.

Manage budgeting, purchasing and inventory of the lab operating supplies.

Work cross-functionally with production team to ensure implementation of new inspection processes and provide feedback where improvement needs are identified.

Perform any other duties to be assigned.

A few weeks of on-the-job training and at HQ in S. Korea is required upon hiring. Expected travelling date is from the beginning of June, 2024 through the end of August, 2024.

Qualifications

Degree requirement: minimum B.S. in chemistry or related field from a 4-year university or associate degree in chemistry.

On top of the degree requirement, minimum 4 years of quality control experience at chemical manufacturing.

Knowledge of inspection practices for acceptance of chemical products at all production stages.

Experienced in implementation of IATF 16949 / ISO 14001 / ISO 9001 is a plus, but not required.

Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment and maintenance.

Excellent analytical skills to conduct quality testing and assurance of chemical products.

Experiences in SPC (statistical process control), MSA (measurement system analysis), CP (capability analysis), and FMEA (failure mode and effects analysis) is a plus.

Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects at a time and work independently as a manager and manage a working cross-functional team.

Experience in handling hazardous, flammable and combustible materials.

Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with the vendors, HQ, coworkers and customers.

Language proficiency in Korean is a plus, but not required.

Proficiency in Microsoft in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
