Description Summary Manages the processing of payroll data for the Cleveland Browns and Columbus Crew. The Payroll Manager is solely responsible for performing all activities necessary to process multiple payrolls, including maintaining related records, filing federal and multi-state tax reports, processing voluntary and involuntary employee deductions such as levies, garnishments, healthcare, and 401K deductions, and processing employee benefits, such as life insurance and other fringe benefits. He/she must be proactive, able to work independently, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, legal requirements, and NFL rules. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for payroll processing utilizing Dayforce, which includes preparation and processing, reconciliation, reporting and any payroll related issues
Calculate accurate and timely bi-weekly payrolls for all employees including full and part time staff, players, event staff, and union employees
Process all former employee compensation payrolls as needed, which includes severance pay, retirement payments, etc.
Process related payments and reconciliations for all health and benefits plans, including but not limited to life, health, dental, vision, and disability insurances, along with FSA and HSA plans
Assist in the administration of both 401(k) plans (office staff & players)
Provide timely responses to employees when answering their payroll questions
Responsible for monitoring time approvals & PTO balances and training employees & managers in these systems
Responsible for the reconciliation, filing, and distribution of year end W-2's
Ensure the accuracy of all payroll deductions such as employee 401K, healthcare, wage garnishments, charitable contributions and payroll benefits such as life insurance, moving expenses, and game tickets
Develop and prepare general ledger account reconciliation reports and work closely with the Controller to ensure proper entries to the financial system
Have an understanding of and comply with all Federal, State and Local Tax laws related to wage withholding and deposits
Develop and assist with process improvements, system enhancements and operational activities
Work closely with Human Resources on compensation and employment status changes, benefits, reporting, etc.
Employee is expected to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment
Other payroll duties to include various reconciliation/spreadsheets in Excel as required Required Experience & Skills
Five+ years of experience in multi-state payroll processing
Ability to exhibit proper discretion in dealing with highly sensitive and confidential information is a must
Experience working with the Dayforce payroll platform strongly preferred
Preferred experience in accounting and finance departments, as well as performing reconciliations
Substantial knowledge of all aspects of payroll tax and federal, state, and local laws
Multi-State payroll experience and ability to work with various tax authorities
Strong organizational and analytical skills and ability to work with all levels of staff
Superb ability to execute extremely deadline driven tasks in a timely and effective manner
Ability to effectively multi-task on a daily basis
Keen written and verbal communication skills are a must
Ability to perform in a team environment and have a customer centric mindset
Proficient in MS Office
