Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Engineering plan preparation and production.

2. Perform design tasks, engineering calculations, solve design problems and develop knowledge of general design standards and agency requirements for plan preparation.

3. Coordinate with architect/agency/client for production of design.

4. Maintain updated knowledge of CADD/Civil Software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Design layout of grading plans, improvement plans, etc., in compliance with agency standards.

Contribute to standard details library and facilitate its use within the team.

Prepare engineering calculations and data input using CADD software.

Work with team leader to monitor quality of design and check work for completeness and latest changes. Identify design issues and plan clarifications that need to be finalized for completion of tasks.

Work with team leader and assure that:

Design concept is adhered to.

Production schedule is being met.

Agency standards are being met.

Report format and contents meet agency and company standards.

All plan check comments have been addressed.

All outstanding design issues have been solved.

Plan submittal requirements have been complied with.

Staffing needs are addressed.

Share experience and technical solutions with others when needed.

Attend CADD training sessions and strive to learn or teach current applications.

Assist with the preparation of staking plans and field data during construction

Monitor quality of design and check own work for completeness and accuracy.

Coordinate with architect/agency/client for production of design.

Provide construction support and develop responses to RFIs.

Perform technical calculations (hydrology, hydraulics, sewer capacity, earthworks, etc.).

Attend meetings and conference calls with agency and design team on as as-needed basis.

Punctuality and regular attendance

This job may supervise an intern.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education, Experience & Knowledge Any combination of a bachelors degree (B. S.) in Civil Engineering or equivalent discipline from a four-year college or university and minimum civil engineering design experience of two years; or equivalent combination of education and experience. EIT certification is required. Must have a working knowledge of engineering principles and standards. Proficiency in AutoCAD, and Civil 3D required.
