Minimum 1+ years special education experience required.

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with autism? Do you have a strong background in special education and a desire to work in an elementary school setting? We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team near Columbia,Connecticut.

Responsibilities:

Plan and implement appropriate instructional strategies and activities for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in an elementary classroom setting.

Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other members of the special education team and parents/guardians.

Use evidence-based practices and interventions to address the unique needs of students with autism, including munication, social skills, and behavior management.

Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, adaptive skills, and functional routines to support students' overall development and independence.

Monitor student progress and use data to inform instructional decisions and modify teaching strategies as needed.

Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters engagement, participation, and growth for all students.

Collaborate with other school staff, including paraprofessionals, therapists, and administrators, to ensure coordinated and prehensive services for students with autism.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field from an accredited institution.

Connecticut teaching certification in Special Education (065) or eligibility for certification through alternate route program.

Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in an educational setting, preferably at the elementary level.

Knowledge of evidence-based practices and interventions for teaching students with autism, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.

Strong munication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
