Position Description

Immediate opening! For a Regional Class A CDL Truck Driver and we want the right Driver to join us at Ryder in Newark, NJ

We will buy your truck! If you’re looking to switch from Owner Operator to Company Driver, we can help make the switch even easier!

$1615+ Weekly Average, Driver Positions Pay Weekly

$1,250/wk min guarantee for 5 days worked

Regional within 300-mile radiusof your house

Needs reliable vehicle

Overtime Paid After 40 hours

Overnights for Route in Ryder Booked Hotel OR Sleeper, Per Diem Pay: $50 per night

Schedule: Monday – Friday -Must be Flexible.

NST Tenure bonus $1,000 each year when actively employed from Nov 1st – Oct 31st .

Sign on bonus $3,000 paid $1500 after 30 and after 90 days.

Hours per Week: 50 + hours average per week

Deliver To: NE and New England region

Trailer Type: Dry Van, Reefer, Flatbed

Freight: Touch/No Touch - Varies by Account

Comprehensive Benefits start 30 days after hire

Paid Time Off Starts at Day 1- 80 hours accrued in 1st year

Trucks are three years or newer. Ryder Drivers Service the Route, not the Truck. All Drivers have 24/7 Roadside Maintenance by a Ryder Trained Technician plus Service Employees fuel up our trucks at all 800+ Maintenance Facilities.

Tractor Type: Day Cabs and Sleepers

Trailer Type: 48' - 53’ Dry Van, Reefer, Flatbed, Conestoga and Curtainside

Ryder will Train you on all equipment needed to be successful

Equipment: Manual Pallet Jacks, Rollers, Lift Gates and Moffett

Load Securement: Strapping, Tarping and Chaining

The starting salary for this position is $83,980. Employees may also be eligible for a Shift Differential

Requirements

Minimum 21 years of age

Pass a Ryder Drug Test

Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Pass a DOT physical

Pass a Ryder road test

Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position

Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle:

9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR

2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR

5 years’ experience within the last 10 years

Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions

Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures

Important Note: Additional requirements may be required in different locations and/or accounts.

Responsibilities

Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines

Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards Maintaining accurate records and logs

Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer

Performs other duties as assigned
