Job Description

Ask Yourself:

Ø Am I a recent or upcoming ATC grad excited about the possible opportunity to run my own training room?

Ø Do I love watching sports and have separation anxiety when I miss my favorite team’s most important game of the season?

Ø Are my favorite movies the ones that have athletes overcoming obstacles or returning from injury to help their team win the title?

Ø Can I envision myself with a job where I get to be outside (most of the time) and enjoy the always changing New England seasons?

Ø Would I be okay making some extra cash covering weekend tournaments or youth sports jamborees?

If you said “Yes!” or even, “Yeah, I think so”, keep reading because this is:

Where You’ll Work:

OSMS is a physical therapist-owned, private practice that has been proudly serving the greater Merrimack Valley with high quality outpatient physical therapy since 1981. We have been the sole provider of athletic trainers for North Andover High School since 1988. While other clinics may want you to join their “Team”, we’d rather have you become a part of our family (the kind you actually enjoy seeing at holidays). Once hired, you’ll quickly find that you’ve found a place where you can grow personally and professionally. At the same time, life is too short to work somewhere you won’t be happy or get to show off some of your personality. Dress up for Halloween? Stockings and ugly holiday sweaters? Patriots, Bruins, Celtics, & Red Sox apparel during the season? Hawaiian shirts in the summer? Office pool party? These are just some of the things we do. But we’re open to suggestions!

Who You’ll Be:

Your primary responsibility as our Head Athletic Trainer will be to provide medical coverage and athletic training services for athletes at North Andover High School. You’ll work Monday through Friday, with some weekend coverage required. When you’re not showing stretching exercises to cross country runners (who, let’s be honest, didn’t train over the summer), taping a basketball player’s ankle, or icing a baseball player’s shoulder after he’s pitched a do-or-die playoff game, you’ll be working as a PT aide at our physical therapy clinic.

What You’ll Do as Athletic Trainer:

· Providing coverage with on-field evaluations and care for injuries.

· Rehabilitation/Treatment – Taping/Icing.

· Managing injuries following MIAA guidelines.

· Tracking and documenting athletes diagnosed with concussions. Coordinating/promoting proper communication to provide appropriate return to activity according to state mandated protocols.

· Promoting conditioning programs to help athletes prevent injury, as well as manage recovery and aid in return to activity.

· Working closely with athletic directors, school nurses, and coaches to keep athletes and parents educated and informed.

· Maintaining and ordering supplies for the year as well as getting kits returned from coaches and prepping them for the following season.

What You’ll Do as Physical Therapy Aide:

· Maintaining flow of patients in and out of clinic.

· Setting up and guiding patients through therapeutic exercises and stretches, providing feedback about form.

· Performing various administrative tasks.Company Description

Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Specialists, Inc. is a physical therapist-owned, independent private practice that has been proudly serving the greater Merrimack Valley with high quality outpatient physical therapy since 1981. Our therapists provide manual physical therapy services, specializing in a wide variety of orthopedic injuries, sports injuries, pre and post-surgical rehabilitation, sprains and strains, back/neck/pelvis dysfunction, and industrial injuries. Of our staff, 3 therapists have been with us for over 35 years, 3 others have been here for over 15 years, and as a whole we have over 190 years of professional physical therapy experience. We have covered major sporting events including the Olympic, the World Cup, Division 1 athletics, the Pan America Games, as well as being the sole provider of athletic training services to North Andover High School since 1988. To maintain such a high level of care, we place a considerable amount of emphasis on continuing education. Our therapists are required to take yearly continuing education coursework, along with weekly inservices to review and practice new techniques or refine current skill sets. Our commitment to continuing education helps reinforce evidence based practice techniques to maintain the highest level of care for our patients. This yields better outcomes, getting you back to work, back to sports/recreational activities quicker, or improving overall function and quality of life. We take an integrated approach to physical therapy, using "hands-on" manual therapy, therapeutic exercise programs, home exercise programs, and education to our patients. This encourages our patients to be active participants in their own recovery. We at Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Specialists remain dedicated to making patient care our foremost concern.
