Description:

Ability to write and speak effectively, count, do basic math, read and comprehend.

Ability to effectively present information, provide basic instruction and respond to questions from groups of members, youth and the general public.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out and furnish instructions to others in written, oral or diagram form.

Ability to observe participant behavior assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.

Visual and auditory ability to respond to environmental and other hazards related to waterfront activities.

Ability to lift and or move up to 30 pounds.

Possess strength and endurance to maintain constant supervision of campers.

Plan, develop and present activities as assigned considering interests, skills and abilities of participants.

Provide for progression in environmental/science programs.

Request supplies and equipment in a timely manner, have items prepared for participant use.

Teach and monitor proper use of equipment and supplies.

Check equipment before activity to ensure equipment is in good, safe condition.

Conduct check of program area prior to each use for safety, cleanliness and good repair.

Assist in the development of lesson plans that foster participant’s environmental/science awareness.

Administer outcome evaluation instruments.

Provide opportunities for participants so that each individual experiences success during the activities.

Participate in evaluation of programs as requested and make recommendations for equipment, supplies and future programs.

Desire and the ability to work with children and adults in the outdoors.

Commitment to the implementation of managing diversity and have the ability to work with people or persons of diverse backgrounds and abilities.

Documented training and experience in environmental education preferred.

Ability to make decisions and act wisely in an emergency

Ability to adapt to working in a primitive, rustic outdoor setting.

Ability to relate to one’s peer group and work as a team.

Ability to relate to parents and troop leaders.

Ability to supervise participants.

Ability to accept supervision and guidance.

Ability to set up demonstration area and program, and to teach skills to staff and participants of all ages.

Ability to meet and greet the public.

Ability to furnish own reliable transportation and hold a current driver’s license.

Good character, integrity, ability to adapt to an outdoor environmental setting, enthusiasm, a sense of humor, patience, and self-control.

Ability to maintain the highest regards for safety at all times in accordance with GSUSA’s Safety Activity Checkpoints and ACA Guidelines.

Ability and willingness to place the needs of youth and camp above personal desires while on the job.

Acceptance of and adherence to the purposes and principles of Girl Scouting as embodied in the Promise and Law.

Currently, or willing to be, a registered member of Girl Scouts of the USA.

Adult at least 18 years of age.

CPR and First Aid Certification preferred.
