Position Description
This position is located in Washington Headquarters Services, Facilities Services Directorate, Facilities Operations & Services Division, Facility Services Group, Alterations Work Group (AWG). The AWG performs major and minor buildings and facilities repair in the National Capital Region.
*Your background must demonstrate up to a full range of Maintenance Mechanic tasks*, which includes Performing common tasks of a Maintenance Mechanic, under close supervision of a supervisor or lead. Have received some training which equipped employee with the knowledge and ability in performing maintenance mechanic duties involving at least two trades for the purpose of building upkeep and maintaining grounds.

Those who meet the minimum level of experience and training for the screen-out element will then be evaluated in each of the following job elements:
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)
Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
Position Duties/Responsibilities
Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:
Ability to install and operate electrical fixtures, writing, and controls, and to read and follow writing diagrams.
Skill in constructing, operating, and servicing a variety of domestic air conditioning units and systems, power sources, and cooling units.
Knowledge of standard methods of combustion, heat transfer principles, and fuel characteristics to install, repair, and maintain heating boilers and domestic heating units and systems.
