Overview:

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking Production Operators to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS).

Responsibilities:

The Production Operator will perform general process functions to support production operations at SRMC Liquid Waste facilities.

Performs lockouts per procedure (requires working in various parts of buildings)

Receives, handles, and ships solid waste material. Monitors process piping and equipment, and inventories solid waste materials in tanks and vault

Orders, stocks, handles, and maintains supplies and required personal protective equipment (PPE) to perform facility activities

Performs procedure walk downs (may require protective clothing and/or respiratory equipment)

Operates forklifts and reaches and/or climbs a ladder

Obtains Fire Warden qualifications (requires successful completion of fire training.)

Must be physically able to evacuate facility and/or area during an emergency

Meets the physical requirements for the essential job duties, which may include handling 50 pounds, climbing, bending, twisting, exposure to extreme temperatures, wearing protective clothing/equipment, including respiratory.

Works from standard and special procedures, training, shift logs, verbal and written turnover, and supervisory direction

Performs administrative functions such as completing process procedures, completing sample requests, using a copier, completing store orders, participating in procedure development, and other administrative duties as required

Performs production process support functions such as verifying and handling solid waste materials created during facility operating activities, pulling samples, decontaminating equipment and facilities

Participates in event investigations

Alert to changes in facility conditions (radiological, environmental, or potentially hazardous) and makes appropriate notifications

Performs other duties as necessary to support the production program or as assigned

Qualifications:

Additional Information:

Candidate must meet facility specific qualification/certification standards.

Candidate must be able to obtain appropriate security clearance for facility.

Candidate must maintain all required local, state, federal licenses as required by supported facility.

Relocation Assistance is not available for this position.

Qualification Requirements:

Selected candidates must successfully complete initial and ongoing training and qualification programs for assigned tasks, including classroom and on-the-job training. Candidates will complete Nuclear Fundamentals training at a local Technical College identified by SRMC. Candidates must receive a score of 80% or better on the classroom exam(s) to obtain a required Nuclear Fundamental Certificate.

Candidates must meet and maintain facility specific qualification/certification standards.

Candidates must complete radiological protection training and maintain all required local, state, or federal licenses as required by the assigned facility.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of ACT WorkKeys Skills Assessment Test: Applied Math, minimum score 4

Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or STEM related discipline from an accredited program

About:

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract. Located in Aik, South Carolina, SRMC is a limited liability company formed by nuclear operations and environmental remediation global leaders BWXT, Amentum, and Fluor. The SRMC Team is responsible for the closure of waste tanks, the operation of the Savannah River Site’s Defense Waste Processing Facility, tank farm operations and associated production and disposal facilities.
