Sr. Formulation Chemist

Hire Up Staffing is partnering with an Established Chemical Plant in the NW area of Houston - who is looking for an Senior Formulation Chemist!

Pay: $110,000 (Negotiable Based on Experience)

The right candidate MUST have at least 10 years experience of epoxy and paint and/or coatings industry experience within a chemical plant to be considered.

Responsibilities:

Must have a Master s or Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent area.

At least 10 years of Ph.D experience within the paint and/or coatings industry; Industrial and marine coatings and tank linings experience is highly preferred.

Prioritization of projects and assigning work

Responsible for planning and performing Research and Development investigations for new product development, improvements, and maintenance of existing products.

Must be proficient working with epoxy, vinyl ester, unsaturated polyester, and polyurethane formulations and application testing.

Must be comfortable responding to and managing highly technical and complex questions and concerns from the production team, research professionals, quality control, and customers regarding development, application, quality assurance and related programs and services.

Must be comfortable in a leadership role to lower level technicians.

Proficient with chemistry/physics/coating principles and practices

Perform highly technical formulation tasks and synthesis

Solve technical problems and recommending solutions

Interpret data and develop reports

Must be able to preform basic project management concepts

Communicate technical information on a regular basis

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Provide and receive direction to Coworkers in an effective manner

Must have a lengthy background in polymer chemistry and/or polymer physics

Must have a strong knowledge of polymer structure-property relationships

Experience with polymer synthesis for coating applications is highly preferred

Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and proposals to all organizational levels.
