Quality Manager (Plant, not Corporate)

Oakland County, MI

Company is an automotive manufacturing facility

Salary: $110k - $130k/ yr (+ up to 10% annual bonus)

Job Summary:

The Plant Quality Manager provides clear leadership for the development of an environment focused on Quality Lifecycle Management. Develop quality-processes in line with the Quality Management System, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced

Product Quality Planning (APQP), Controls Plans, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).

The Quality Manager also leads Customer collaboration during production and actively participates to the operational performance of the company.

In addition, this position leads all Health, Safety and Environmental activities.

Essential Functions:

Contributes to the creation and implementation of best practices, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.

Contributes to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on quality standards.

Ensures compliance with IATF standards across departments.

Contributes to global QMS initiatives with other company sites.

Implement/Maintain all relevant procedures described in the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance.

Ensure that all in-house systems and procedures are updated, revised, and modified to meet the needs of internal requirements and external certification bodies.

Respond to customer complaints using problem solving tools and customer portals.

Update quality documentation and communicate to carry forward lessons learned from quality concerns.

Ensure that all necessary systems and procedures are in place to satisfy all customer requirements and audits.

Train others in all aspects of the quality system and application of procedures.

Undertake internal and process audits of the Quality Management System (QMS)

Management of the QMS Coordinator, Quality Engineers, and Technicians in the sign- off of parts and the resolution of internal/external quality concerns.

Establish and refine quality sign-off instructions, standards, and documentation.

Report against agreed quality and safety metrics on a monthly basis.

In conjunction with the Supplier Quality function, reduce the effect of non-conforming supplier materials on the production area.

Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.

Lead Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) activities.

Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department.

Motivate and coach the quality team to operational success.

Review, implement, and update company records e.g., training matrices, performance reviews, risk assessments.

Input and hold responsibility for Quality budgets.

Communicate with personnel at all levels, internally and externally to the Company, in relation to quality matters.

Skills and Qualifications:

***MUST have a min of 7 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment!

Operational quality experience

Excellent leadership and communication skills

Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles

Knowledge of automotive core tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and 8D

Automotive and IATF experience are also key.

Ability to use lab equipment.

Experience dealing with customers and suppliers.

Strong team player

Ability to influence others.

Education and Language:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (required)

English (fluent); French/Spanish (preferred, not required)
